Modern Scottish Warehouse Wedding: Gillian + Chris

Modern Scottish Warehouse Wedding: Gillian + Chris

via

Gillian + Chris really wanted to put on a wedding that wouldn't be forgotten for a long time - and we think they pulled it off big time with their stylish Glasgow warehouse celebration. As you probably caught a glimpse of already, Gillian's Temperley London dress was one for the books - and according to their photographer, Dan O'Day, photos of that dress nearly broke his Instagram feed! ;) They worked with some great vendors, like Pyrus for florals + Be Eventful for planning, and put a lot of love + thought into the little details. Let's hear more about the inspiration + design, from G + C below:

With us both being wedding photographers, we wanted to use a venue in Scotland that we hadn't photographed in before. When we found the Woodside Warehouse we knew it was perfect for us. We wanted to throw a big dirty/pretty party for all our loved ones and didn't want the day to feel traditional in the slightest. We wanted the day to feel quite modern and celebratory, but with a dark edge to it. We used dark rich colours that would complement with the rough industrial feel of the warehouse. Even though it was spring time we wanted the day to feel quite moody.

That dress paired with that bouquet! Blowing our minds with the flower goodness!

Processional: Let's Get Married - The Proclaimers

Recessional: Signed Sealed Delivered - Stevie Wonder

First Dance: Instead of a first dance, they went straight into dancing with friends to their favorite Glasgow band, The Shiverin Sheiks

We're obsessed with the bridesmaids' green sequin Badgley Mischka dresses!

We didn't have a first dance as we went straight from a ceilidh upstairs and moved down stairs to the basement bar which was a surprise for our guests and everyone went straight into dancing with one of favourite Glasgow bands the Shiverin sheiks. When the 1st dj came on later out friends took it on themselves to make a big circle around us while one of our favourite tunes played -lcd soundsystem /where are my friends. It was such a nice warming moment for us, we just jumped about for 5 mins while we looked at each other and all our friends smiling away. Such a lovely moment.

The best suppliers book up fast so get in quick! We used a local community of wedding suppliers (www.weddingcollective.co) who formed a superb creative team all bouncing off each other & all worked together amazingly. If you're gonna diy do it early! It's basically never too early to start forming plans and making decisions. Definitely make sure you have a co-ordinater and MC for the day if you're using an untraditional venue. Having one problem solver/point of contact is so important to let you let the planning go and just enjoy it all.
