Stylish Destination Wedding in Mallorca with Ladies and Lord | Fly Away Bride

Those who don't believe in love at first sight might want to check out Emily and Islay's story: three months after they first met in London they had moved in together! The couple married on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Mallorca last May, after visiting Cap Rocat and confirming it as their dream venue. Ladies and Lord were with them to document their gorgeous day, and be sure not to miss Emily's fantastic advice for destination brides below!

HOW THEY MET

"We met in London on a night out. I agreed to go out on a date with him, and four days later we had been on three dates! We knew instantly it was love and moved in together after three months. Islay proposed to me in the stands at a Beyonce concert: everyone around us were cheering and clapping - there were hundreds of people watching!

DECIDING ON THE DESTINATION

My husband had been to Mallorca with work and had visited to the venue for lunch by boat. He described how magical it was and we decided to fly over together and have a look around. It was an immediate yes! Instincts totally took over and it was a really easy decision.

THE WEDDING DETAILS

I love simplicity and really wanted simple colours and very few colours. As the wedding was at Cap Rocat in Mallorca the look and feel was very chic so I tried to pick colours that would complement the venue, hence the white and gold. I like neutral colours and nothing too bright so it was all very subtle and heavenly! Islay and I love a party so I wanted there to be a party feel, our families as well are really fun and love to dance and sing. We made sure it was very relaxed in the evening so everyone could really let their hair down.

I loved that the whole day felt personal from the ceremony on the roof terrace with all our closest loved ones to the band, who handed over the mic multiple times to let my uncle sing (who leads a band in the UK). One of our readings was written and read by two of our closest friends - it was a very personal poem which we loved. We all danced until four in the morning including my six-foot-five male friend doing the windmill dance move on all my older female relatives. The wedding party was pretty inebriated down even to the DJ, and my very expensive lace dress was completely destroyed the next day!

BEST DECISIONS

I absolutely loved my bridesmaid dresses- they shimmered so beautifully in the sun and added that extra bit of glamour to the day! Also the personal readings made the ceremony extra special. I am also glad we moved on to the lounge area after the band finished so that the party could continue- it was a real surprise for people.

ADVICE

Ensure your destination is easy for people to travel to- direct flights which are not too expensive will increase the chances of more of your friends and family being able to make it. Give people enough notice so they can make the trip a holiday. Organize a lovely family meal afterwards to say goodbye and thank you to everyone. Make really close ties with your venue organizers and planners as it means you have a group of people to go back to and visit for anniversaries. A whole new set of friends in another country!"
