Fun Superhero Party Wedding

Fun Superhero Party Wedding

via

I love it when a couple plan a party and just happen to be getting married at the same time.

Sarah and Miguel married on the Saturday 24 th May 2014 at Grooms Farm followed by a reception at Bonhams Farm, Hampshire. They wanted their wedding to feel like a family party with a touch of vintage and superhero.

Yes that's right, superhero. The boys wore superhero tees beneath their shirts, Sarah donned wonder woman knickers and there were superhero Lego cake toppers. So much fun!

Sarah had two gorgeous dresses, for the day she wore Augusta Jones 'Cyd' and in the evening a tea length frock by Lou Lou Bridal so she could dance the night away.

Thanks so very much to the utterly brilliant Holly Deacon for sharing her photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL |On Monday 19 th August 2013 Miguel took me to Hayling Island. We had fish and chips in a restaurant on the beach and then we went for a walk. It wasn't a sunny day so we had the whole beach to ourselves. We took our shoes of and went paddling (it was freezing) and we then found a bench and sat for a while looking at the sea. Miguel then got down on one knee and asked me the question with a green (my favourite colour) Lego ring. The following day we got dressed up and went to Hatton Garden, where I found the most amazing ring, we drank champagne and met with some friends in central London to celebrate. It was the perfect week.

THE VISION | Vintage, lace, old suitcases, creative with a little Superhero thrown in for good measure. The most important thing of all for us is that it felt like a family party, sharing food, family dinner, everyone feeling like that they are part of our extended family oh and everyone getting to see my amazing Wonder Woman knickers!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Went to ALOT of hotels and found that we didn't want to be told how to organise our wedding, so we went it alone. Organising and making everything ourselves.

THE VENUE | Grooms Farm, Frith End, Bordon GU35 0QR (wedding ceremony). Bonhams Farm, Holybourne, Alton, Hampshire GU34 4JA (rest of the day).

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Day dress was Augusta Jones, Cyd. Found it in the Ivory Boutique in Winchester.

Evening Dress (yes I changed because I wanted to party!!!! And I wanted 2 dresses!!) Lou Lou Bridal, 50's tea dress with a little lace jacket. I had so much fun. Don't get me wrong, I loved my day dress and I felt like a bride, but come 7pm the train was starting to get on my nerves and it was so heavy to drag around. Note to any bride out there GET 2 DRESSES, YOU'LL LOVE CHANGING!!!

FINDING THE DRESS | A total nightmare! I thought I would love the process however I didn't like the sales women in any of the bridal shops, they would say that I look beautiful in a bin bag, to fake for me. I couldn't have done any of my dress finding without my Maid of Honour, my best friend........... My sister Hannah.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Black suit with a Star Trek (Klingon) pin badge. He looked so handsome.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | You're So Cool by Hans Zimmer (music that was played as I entered).

Two Hearts by Ronald D. Moore (it's from star trek!)

With fire and steel did the spirits forge the heart? So fiercely did it beat, so loud was the sound that the spirits cried out, 'On this day we have brought forth the strongest heart in all the land. None can stand before it without trembling at its strength.' But then the heart weakened, its steady rhythm faltered and the spirits said, 'Why do you weaken so? We have made you the strongest of all. 'And the heart said... 'I am alone. 'And the spirits knew that they had erred. So they went back to their forge and brought forth another heart. But the second heart beat stronger than the first, and the first was jealous of its power. Fortunately, the second heart was tempered by wisdom. 'If we join together, no force can stop us.'and when the two hearts began to beat together, they filled the Earth with a powerful sound. For the first time, the spirits knew love. To this very day, no one can oppose the beating of two hearts.

BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL | The bridesmaids got to wear anything they like as long as it's black. This way they get to look and feel beautiful (wearing a style that they love). On the morning of the wedding I gave them each a pair of vintage pearls that they wore as I was going for an 'Audrey Hepburn' look. My bridesmaids looked stunning.

THE FLOWERS | I really wanted Balloons, however on the run up to the wedding I realised that the weather wasn't going to be great and getting the balloons on and off the coach that we booked was also going to be hard so the day before the wedding I went to the local market and bought a pot of Hydrangeas for £15 , then on the morning of the wedding I cut of the heads and the bridesmaids wrapped lace around them and we were good to go......... who said you need to spent hundreds on wedding flowers!

THE CAKE | The grooms mum (Maria) is the most amazing cake maker, she baked our cake and the grooms' cousin (Sonia) decorated it for us.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our new BFF. It was meant to be. Back in November friends of ours recommended this guy. We called him and had a chat with him and were happy to book him in for our big day. Then we called again in January, of which he told us that he had taken another job and he could no longer do our wedding! With less than 5 months to go it put us in a complete panic........We called around but no one could help us. Then a friend from Miguel's work told us about Holly. I called her that evening and fell in love with her straight away. She was so perfect for us and understood what we were trying to create. We went on the most amazing engagement shoot with her and on the day of the wedding she was amazing. Her pictures are so beautiful and she captured our day so beautifully. Out of all the people we have met during this process Holly and her team were amazing. I'm so so so so so glad that (whatever his name was) let us down so that we found Holly... like a fairytale it was meant to be!
