Karen and Joel's vintage chic Portland wedding was seriously beautiful. Think tons of flora and fauna with cats, polka dots, gold, blue, mint, and peach colors everywhere. Their cat, George, was present in spirit - he was on the invitations, the program, on a custom pocket square for Joel, and in their vows. Yay for fellow cat people! Don't miss the hand-dyed table linens, gold glitter vases, paper garland, and gold animal place cards.

They had a sing-along during the ceremony to "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles, and their first dance was to "All My Life" by K-Ci & JoJo.

Karen also learned an awesome lesson about keeping perspective when it came to a precious piece of the decor. I'll let her explain:

The morning of the wedding, Joel and the groomsmen went to the venue to set up chairs for the ceremony and to fill our balloons. There were these two white heart balloons I loved. We only had two. For months, I envisioned them being on either side of us during the ceremony. Leading up to the wedding, I said, "Whatever you do, don't let anything happen to the white heart balloons."

I got to the venue and everyone had to break the news that one of the heart balloons had indeed popped. It ended up being not a big deal. While it is important to have a vision of what the details will look like, it is equally as important to not get blindsided by some of those details not working out. For the most part, you'll be the only one to notice something isn't how you previously envisioned.
