With Mississippi's change in marriage laws a couple of years ago, Mississippi has become a destination wedding for many.

Why, you ask? First, the big change in Mississippi marriage laws: there is no waiting. Many states have 2 day, three day or more. Mississippi has a no waiting period. And the applicants for a marriage license do not have to be a resident of the state of Mississippi. No wonder we have so many beautiful Mississippi weddings. And now we have even more beautiful Mississippi brides and handsome Mississippi grooms.

Second, there are so many beautiful and historical places in Mississippi to wed. Natchez for years has been a huge choice for a destination wedding for brides not only across Mississippi but throughout the United States. It's a known fact that Natchez attracts visitors from around the world. And when people see these huge, breath taking estates and the quaint bed and breakfasts, well, of course, they want to be married in the romance and elegance of Natchez, MS. Dunleith Historic Inn, Monmouth Historic Inn, Longwood, and Stanton Hall are some of the most popular estates for weddings and rehearsal dinners. Brides truly feel the romance of the old South at these venues. Hotel Vue in Natchez is newly renovated and overlooks the mighty Mississippi River.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast offers the beach, the nightlife, the restaurants and casinos. There's something for everyone. You can choose to wed in the beautiful casino, Beau Rivage Casino and Resort in Biloxi. Or, you can wed in the historical boutique hotel, White House Hotel in Biloxi. There's more on the Mississippi Coast for those wanting a bit of history. Beauvoir, home of Jefferson Davis in Biloxi and Grasslawn in Gulfport both overlook the Gulf and are reminders of the elegance and grace of bygone eras.

For Coast brides wanting a view, you can't go wrong with the Great Southern Club which is atop the 15th floor Hancock Bank building. And for something unique, try the Pass Christian Yacht Club in Pass Christian or Diamondhead Country Club in Diamondhead.

North Mississippi has beautiful venues as well. Many brides like to return to their schools to get married. Oxford, MS boasts many venues for former Ole Miss students as does Starkville for State alums with the new Mill. And Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, can offer the bride five different venues on campus for her wedding and rehearsal dinner.

Finally, let's not forget the Delta, home of the Blues. This is perfect for the music lover that wants a bit of history, too. From Greenwood, MS to Clarksdale, MS, a bride can find unique hotels, like The Alluvian, to quaint bed and breakfast homes.

Destination weddings are as close as Mississippi. And they are fun for the bride and groom plus their families and friends. It's truly a celebration with a Mississippi destination wedding.
