3 Hairstyles You Can Do Straight Outta the Pool

Pool parties are a staple for the summer months. It seems any soirée scheduled within the months of June and September involves a pool (or some sort of body of water). If you're the kind of guest that takes full advantage of a pool and all its watery glory, you're probably also aware of the effects it can have on your hair. Post-pool locks are not always the greatest, and the last you thing want is to leave a party early because you couldn't get your wet hair under control. We've got not one, not two, but three solutions to this pool hair problem. Check out the hairstyles to rock after your next quick dip!

A simple braid may seem like a boring option for your wet mane, but believe us when we say it's not. First of all, this isn't your run-of-the-mill three-strand braid ... consider this four-strand wonder an upgrade. Second of all, braids in general are great multitaskers for post-pool hair, as they get it out of your face and serve as a styling tool. After you hop out of the water, spritz your locks with some sea salt spray (we love Redken Fashion Waves 07 Sea Salt Spray) and throw it into the braid. Allow 30 minutes to an hour for your hair to dry and then undo the braid. Voilá, you've got beach waves, sans curling iron!

Who says you can't look chic after a quick swim? A sleek, low chignon has a way of making any ensemble look elegant ... even a swimsuit! To keep it as sleek as possible, try applying a dime-sized amount of gel (try L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Clean Style Gel) about an inch or so past the hairline to make sure you keep the style slick and baby hairs in check, even when it dries.

If we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times: When in doubt, always resort to the messy bun. This fabulously unkempt style will never steer you wrong - NEVER. When you hop out of the pool, dry off your mane with a towel so it's damp. Then, pile it on top of your head, secure it with bobby pins, and you're good to go about your day in style!

Good hair is not reserved for the summer months. Keep your mane in check all year round with these hair tips and tutorials.
