Laura and Henry tied the knot on the 12th April 2014 holding their ceremony at Pitzhanger Manor followed by a reception at Ealing Town Hall, London. It was important to them to have a relaxed day with their loved ones locally.

There were the sweetest little ones, gorgeous floral bridesmaid frocks, yellow and red blooms and statement LOVE letter lights.

Laura looked amazing in a preloved dress which she teamed with shoes she designed on Shoes of Prey, while Henry looked dashing in a skinny grey suit with pops of yellow. I so love this personal, happy and thoughtful wedding day.

Huge thanks so the utterly brilliant Babb Photo for providing the atmospheric imagery.

THE PROPOSAL | Henry proposed to me on my birthday in the middle of the street on a drizzling, grey evening. It was at the spot where he had first told me he loved me. He got down on one knee (then two, he was a bit unsteady after two gins!), produced a beautiful ring and said lots of lovely things which I was too overwhelmed to hear properly! Needless to say, I said yes.

THE VISION | We wanted a relaxed day celebrating with all of our friends and family. We had a local wedding near to where we live in West London and tried to keep focused on simple ways to celebrate being in love and the experience for our guests. We wanted everyone to have a great time!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | As a teacher and self-confessed control freak, I was in charge of the wedding planning process, or at least the practicalities of the day. Henry was in charge of the more creative elements such as the drawings of all the houses where we have lived for the table names. We had about 14 months between engagement and wedding ceremony so could use each half-term to plan a few more details. Family were particularly helpful with buying, storing and carrying boxes and boxes of booze, and my sister was great at helping out with the details e.g. highchairs for the babies and nice toiletries for the ladies' loos.

BUDGET | Unfortunately although we tried to keep the costs down, this was not a budget wedding! Partially as we were married in London and so all the prices seem to grow a bit more!

THE VENUE | We got married at Pitzhanger Manor in Ealing and had our reception at Ealing Town Hall.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I got married in a dress which I bought off Ebay and which my Auntie Judith lovingly adapted to suit my whims! I designed my shoes on www.shoesofprey.com and the headband was Jenny Packham at Debenhams.

FINDING THE DRESS | I had a good look round a few shops with my Mum, sister, Mother-in-law-to-be and my Auntie and wasn't 100% happy with anything I tried so I decided to order one off Ebay so I could request my specific design. My Auntie very kindly agreed to ensure that the fit was perfect and she added sleeves and some additional lace.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Henry wore a Kin at John Lewis suit and Ted Baker shoes. He wore a yellow knitted tie (also from Ebay) and my Mum made pocket squares from Liberty fabric.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Love by Roy Croft. Some Things Go Together by Charlotte Zolotow

My Dad walked me down the aisle to All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar (Henry had sung this to me when he proposed!). We walked back down the aisle together to Happy by Pharrell Williams.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had three lovely bridesmaids: my sister, Kate Derbyshire; my best friend from home, Janine Mitchell; and my best friend from university Laura Spratling. They wore dresses from Ted Baker.

THE FLOWERS | The flowers were done by Germana Conti at The Daisy Pot.

THE CAKE | The cake was from Marks and Spencer with some flowers from our florist on the top.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer was the amazing Laura Babb, she was absolutely fantastic.

We also had the brilliant Yay! videographers.

THE DETAILS & DECOR | Henry drew each of the houses we have lived in for the table names www.henryshouses.co.uk

Henry's Mum made jam for the wedding favours - Jam by Julia! We covered these in a Liberty fabric which matched the ushers' pocket squares.

We donated money to Cancer Research UK on behalf of each guest.

THE HONEYMOON | We went on a brief mini-moon to Nice (which was a surprise booked by Henry!) and we're off to Hong Kong and Mauritius in the summer holidays for our proper honeymoon. We can't wait!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Henry booked a surprise Mariachi band for the drinks reception which was amazing - I've always joked about how I would love a Mariachi band at my wedding and he made it happen!

One of the female guests almost punched another in the face trying to catch the bouquet - Laura Babb caught it all on film - http://www.babbphoto.com/bouquet-toss/

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | The wedding budget spreadsheet is an absolute essential. Try and rope in as many friends and family to help you out as possible. Remember that the stress will be worth it! It is an amazing day!
