This afternoon's wedding is distinctly London. With 3 fabulous settings in the city and some fun touches.

Nasreen and Liam married on the 15th March 2014 at the striking St Pancras Grand Champagne Bar, followed by a reception at the Crypt on the Green and a pub party at The Easton. Brilliant.

They injected much of their personality into their wedding, with 2 live bands, Lego, train toys and dinosaurs in their décor and super pretty florals.

Nasreen looked gorgeous in her "Giuliana" Victoria Jane by Ronald Joyce gown whilst clutching her fantastic blue button bouquet.

THE PROPOSAL | We had been having dinner at a friend's house, with the champagne and whiskey free-flowing, a dangerous combination! And somehow, the words all women dream of hearing were uttered across the table "well I've had a ring in my pants drawer for months!" He proposed properly on one knee when we got home, and the next morning just to be sure.

THE VISION |A relaxed and distinctively London wedding, and a fun and memorable party to celebrate with all our family and friends. Lots of good food, plentiful drinks and brilliant music!

We set the tone by designing our own invitations with an image from a local illustrator of the Crystal Palace dinosaurs.

THE PLANNING PROCESS |Liam has always enjoyed planning parties, and he spent many happy afternoons researching options and creating multicoloured charts to make sure everything was under control. We sourced all of our suppliers ourselves to make sure we got exactly what we wanted; although it was more work, it meant we were able to get some great deals and make our budget go further.

THE VENUE |For our reception we wanted a dry hire venue in Clerkenwell, a part of London that we both love. We chose the crypt at St James's Church, Clerkenwell for the reception, handily located so our guests could get there by train from the ceremony, and with Liam's favroutie pub just over the road. Catering was provided by Clerkenwell Kitchen, just up the road, who were amazing.

We wanted to have an evening party in a nearby bar, and disaster struck when our original choice cancelled on us with fewer than three months to go. This was actually a blessing in disguise as we our final choice, The Easton, in Clerkenwell, was far better - not only was it a lovely London pub, but all the staff were absolutely fantastic. They understood what we wanted and provided an evening feast of roast beef and profiteroles to keep our guests going.

THE DRESS & ACCESSSORIES | The dress was a "Giuliana" Victoria Jane by Ronald Joyce, with a pearl and diamond necklace and earrings, a wedding gift from my mother.

FINDING THE DRESS | At barely 5'2″, I have always felt long dresses make me look like I've falled in a hole so wanted a knee length 50s style dress with sleeves to wear with my navy glitter heels I bought the day after we got engaged. I tried on the perfect dress and was ready to put the deposit down, but my mum wanted to see me in a big fluffy dress, so booked a consultation at a local shop just to keep her happy. I tried on a variety of dresses, which confirmed my opinion that short people can look daft in long dresses, but on the off chance, tried on this dress purely because it wasn't strapless. My mother, sister and best friend all cried, so that was the dress! Unfortunately, my experience at the shop was really quite miserable, so my sister found the dress online and we were able to order it from a shop near my mum's home, who were absolutely wonderful and tailored it perfectly.

THE READINGS & MUSIC |We chose readings from William Carlos Williams, John Donne, and Ogden Nash for the ceremony.

Music is really important to both of us. Nasreen walked up the aisle to a piece by Boccherini adapted for the film 'Master and Commander', which is a favourite of ours! Following the ceremony we had a drinks reception in St Pancras with some soul music classics, including the highly appropriate 'Love Train', played over a PA.

We spent a large proportion of our budget on two fantastic bands. In the afternoon the "modern party brass" of Hackney Colliery Band really made the party swing. We knew that they would be good but we just weren't prepared for the tightness of their playing, their enthusiasm, and how much fun their music actually was. By the end of the afternoon almost everyone, young and old, was dancing to a brass band medley of songs by the Prodigy.

Finally, having seen them playing in a local pub, we booked local bluegrass band The Thumping Tommys for our evening party. Quite apart from their musical skill, they could not have been more helpful and accommodating, down to playing our first dance song for us live. Having the whole pub jigging to Irish reels and Kentucky bluegrass, and singing along to 'Dirty Old Town' was a true highlight.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I decided not to go for the traditional bridesmaid route, but my sister and best friend from university helped me get ready in the morning and kept me company before the ceremony kicked off.

THE FLOWERS | So the perfect dress, navy glitter Mary Jane shoes, and for the flowers? My sister is incredibly creative, and knowing my childhood love of buttons, she designed the most beautiful bouquet out of buttons in my favourite colours. It looked stunning, was a real conversation point for the day and she even put hidden dinosaur buttons underneath the leaves to make it even more personal to me.

Buttonholes and flowers for the tables were made by Flower Appreciation Society of de Beauvoir Town, who did a beautiful job and were flexible enough to fit our needs to the letter!

THE CAKE | Made by one of Nasreen's colleagues, we had a chocolate and beetroot cake with cream cheese icing, it was a beautiful way to finish off a day that was full of food!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | David Weightman of Married to My Camera. Liam doesn't much like having his photo taken but even he agreed that David kept everyone at their ease and unobtrusively took a really lovely and moving set of photos that captured the spirit of the day.

THE DETAILS & DECOR |We wanted a fun, relaxed day that really reflected our personalities. That meant lots of dinosaurs and Lego on the tables for all to enjoy, as well as a Lego train and bride and groom for a centrepiece! We orders personalised carpenters' pencils for people to take away as a memento of the day. The rest of the décor was mainly begged, borrowed, or bought from Ebay, and our families kindly helped to set up in advance.

THE HONEYMOON | We will be spending a fortnight travelling across the USA.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | A security announcement over the station tannoy as our service started; travelling to our reception via the Thameslink and sharing the carriage with some confused passengers; amazing canapés courtesy of the fabulous Clerkenwell Kitchen; Hackney Colliery Band blasting out some party classics; one of our guests giving the Thumping Tommys some impromptu accompaniment on the spoons; roaring along to 'Dirty Old Town'

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Keep your guests fed, watered and amused with some quality music, and it will all be fine. We didn't feel the need for table planning and we built in plenty of free time for people to have a rest of sneak off to the pub - the result was that people were happy and relaxed. Also: 1) if you're making your own invitations, check you've got the date right - we discovered from some gleeful friends that ours had the wrong year on; 2) make sure that everyone is there before you do the first dance - we had to do ours twice!
