An Elegant Supper In The Italian Mountains.

An Elegant Supper In The Italian Mountains.

Yesterday we took you to Maine in the US...today we are heading to the region of Piedmont in Italy. More specifically, the ancient town of Alba.

Alba is a gastronomic gem and is also famous for wine production. So it was the perfect location for the wedding of self-proclaimed foodie couple, Tamra and Simon, who both work in the wine industry.

Their wedding is one of pure class. Every detail screams elegance, from Tamra's slinky Jenny Packham gown, to Simon's Tom Ford suit, to the crisp linen, the crystal glasses and the choice of simple white roses for the centre pieces...it really is the epitome of wedding chic. And I know I say it often, but for me - simple is always better.

The location and gorgeous sunshine will have you pining for a cold glass of dry white wine while basking in the Mediterranean sun.

The images come from RMW regulars, M&J Photography who are lucky (and talented) enough to shoot some absolutely incredible weddings. I know you're all going to love this one...and I can think of a few of our RMW Real Brides who I know will love it too...

Tamra The Bride: The ceremony took place in the local Enoteca in village of Barbaresco, Piemonte, Italy (North West). A renowned wine region in Italy. The reception took place at the gorgeous restaurant and hotel Locanda del Pilone, in Alba, Piemonte.

My dress was the 'Julianne' Dress by Jenny Packham, which I purchased through her flagship store in London. I originally saw this dress online, loved it, and although I did explore other styles I always came back to this one. Very sleek and sexy. The material was stunning, ivory coloured silk satin, and worked really well with the hot temperature during the day (38 degrees!)

All accessories were from Jenny Packham - both headdress and veil. I wanted to wear a headdress to complement the lovely jewel detail on the dress. I also wanted the veil to be very floaty and light.

Although I am quite tall (nearly 6 feet) I didn't want my height to dictate my choice of wedding shoes...so I went for a pair of 7cm heels, with a full back and peep toe, covered in sparkling crystals. The colour was champagne but quite silvery. They were actually surprisingly comfy and shoes that I will definitely be able to wear again!

With the wedding being abroad in Italy, I realised I had to be fairly relaxed about my hair and makeup...however I was pleasantly surprised with how it all came together. I wanted my hair down with loose waves, and the headdress placed to the side. Patrizia of 2pTrucco hair design did an amazing job with both the hair and make up.

I was really keen to have a natural look with heaps of white blooms as the area where we for married is so breathtakingly beautiful in its own right, with plenty of stunning colours from all the vineyards. For the decoration, we went with what was in season - loads of white gypsophila and white roses everywhere and also loads of candles. The reception was outside in a beautiful garden and looked incredibly dreamy and romantic with all of these finishing touches! For our Bouquets and button holes, we went very simple with long stemmed creamy white roses. The very clever Alessandro Campanella from Turin created all the floral arrangements.

For the bridesmaids I choose one colour, and two different designs. The colour was 'cameo', a very pale pinkish/natural earthy colour which went with the natural surroundings perfectly.

Simon my husband is a real fan of Tom Ford so it was very fitting that he choose TF to design his suit. He looked amazing!

The best advice anyone gave me was to not scrimp on the photography and get the best you can. I found Jonny and Morgane from M&J Photography online and was really 'wowed' with the work they presented on their website. I must say, appointing them to photograph our wedding was the best decision we made.

Aside from the photos being stunning and natural, exactly in the style we wanted, the day went by without us really feeling they had been there - we were able to get on with the day without feeling we had to be dragged away for hours to get photos. Their whole service is really top notch, also post the wedding with a lot of help and support in getting the albums finalised etc.

Simon and I initially didn't want a cake. As self confessed ' foodies' we had put a lot of focus on the menu - a 5 course feast - which included a traditional dessert so had planned to opt out of the cake. However, the traditional Italian Chefs at the restaurant where we held the reception would not allow us to not have a cake...so we were presented with a very impressive 6 tier cake made with the most exquistite wheels of Italian cheeses!

We flew a DJ over from the UK who was a friend of Simons. The music really made the night! It was all set up outside and it was a really balmy evening so everyone danced the night away. My Mums partner Wayne is also a professional singer so he sung the first 3 songs of the night which was a really nice touch.

Just like the cake, we actually hadn't planned a first dance. You can see we were opting for a less traditional wedding! But then we got up impromptu to Waynes song "Under My Skin" by Frank Sinatra. It was all very organic!

I am a winemaker and Simon is also in the wine business. We thought it fitting to create a wine to serve at the wedding and also to give the guests a bottle to take away. We had our own label designed for the occasion. We also matched each food course with a wine that had been special to us. This included wines from France, Italy and New Zealand all in Magnum size. We also offered digestivos of grappas and limoncello which gave quite a local feel!

My advice would be to just relax and really enjoy the day. We did! There were lots of little details that I didn't have control over, trying to organise the wedding from New Zealand, so I really just chilled out and let things take shape organically...your guests won't know if the fine detail doesn't come together as planned!
