J.K. Rowling's recent comments that Hermione Granger should have ended up with Harry Potter instead of Ron Weasley ignited a firestorm of controversy among media and fans alike.

But here at HuffPost Weddings, her remarks got us thinking about all the other characters whose love stories should have gone another way.

We love Mr. Big -- really, we do. But if we're being honest, he's kind of a jerk and strung Carrie along for six seasons -- and he even married another woman! At the end of the day, she should have have ended up with nice, doe-eyed Aiden and everyone knows it.

The greatest star-crossed love story since Romeo and Juliet, in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," everyone's favorite slayer falls madly in love with a vampire. And even though Angel moved on to his own spinoff show, we're still convinced that he and Buffy deserved their happy ending, due to seasons of their undeniable chemistry.

Julia Roberts' character tried really hard (for close to two hours!) to convince her best friend, played by Dermot Mulroney, to ditch his new fiancée and marry her instead. Of course, Roberts lost and Mulroney chose the leggy, tone-deaf blonde. We demand a do-over!

Andrew Lincoln's character pined away for Keira Knightley the entire film but could do nothing about it, considering she married his best friend. Finally, at the end, Lincoln gets the gumption to spill the beans, telling Knightley -- on a series of posters -- "To me you are perfect" (we swoon!). Knightley should have ditched her new husband right that instant. Especially since Lincoln went on to be a badass zombie killer on "The Walking Dead."

You have to admit that Pacey was the best thing about "Dawson's Creek" and that Joey was kind of whiney and annoying. So the argument here is that Pacey was actually way too good for her, and in the end, Joey and Dawson should have ended up together, freeing Pacey to find true love with some super awesome chick.

Poor Jon Cryer ("Duckie") had to watch Molly Ringwald's character go after the preppy, rich guy while his heart broke throughout the entire film. Andie and Duckie were definitely meant to be together and had audiences not booed when John Hughes test-screened a version of the movie that ended that way, then they might have been (if only!)

Yet another example of the girl choosing the jerk. In this case, Bella chooses Edward over nice guy Jacob. As much as Edward said he loved Bella in as few words as possible (seriously, he barely spoke), the truth is that he left her and she got all depressed. Meanwhile, Jacob -- ever the supportive best friend -- was there trying to make her smile. Everyone knows that the best friend should always win. And maybe if she had chosen him, Jacob wouldn't have ended up falling in love with Bella's daughter, which is just creepy.

For 183 minutes we sat watching a love triangle play out in which a WWII nurse (Kate Beckinsale) falls in love with Capt. Rafe McCawley, played by Ben Affleck. But then he goes missing in action, and she falls in love with his best friend, played by Josh Hartnett. But oh no! Affleck's not totally dead and comes back and Beckinsale must choose. If you watched the whole movie (congrats!) you know Hartnett dies and she ends up with Affleck. But in our dreams, we think she should have been with Hartnett all along, pretty much based entirely off that scene in the airplane hangar with the white sheets (watch it above.)

Reese Witherspoon plays southern girl Melanie Smooter who ditched her country roots to find love and success in New York City with Patrick Dempsey's character, Andrew. But there's a catch -- she's still married to her childhood sweetheart, played by Josh Lucas. This movie went against the grain and did not make Dempsey's character a jerk, even though we're supposed to root against him the whole time. In fact, he was pretty great. So as much as we like the original ending in which Witherspoon finds love with Lucas, we'd like to see version where Dempsey wins too.
