We love hunting out ideas for your festival wedding and this summer we have noticed that Lampshades have been rather popular at both weddings and festivals. They add colourful decoration or  in a striped back / up cycled fashion create some cool art installations. Early this year we visited a very cool garden centre in The Cotswolds and saw a cluster of lampshades with one covered in real flowers.. This image has inspired this post!!

So have a chat with your florist and see if they can do something creative and crazy with lampshades.. You could have some seriously cool blooms decorating and hanging out of your trees…

Simple clusters of lampshades with fringing and colourful prints can look great hanging in a woodland setting, but with a trend for up cycling taking over all things vintage right now how about trying some unique ideas: Create a hanging mobile and use it as a table seating plan or an alternative wishing lamp with tags hanging from it. Spray paint your wired shades in neon colours or pastel shades for a funky up cycled look.

How about adding chicken wire around your structure and threading old rags of fabric through your shade – Excellent for adding colour and texture to your backdrop.. We love bright fringing that can be added along the bottom edge also.

Incorporate shades into your alter design.. We love the image below creating colour and energy through print. the more colourful the better we say!!

Another alternative shade idea is to turn your shade upside down and actually use as a flower centrepiece.. Again bringing flowers into the mix can create a wonderful display using colour, shape and texture as a base.

Simple wire frame shades look great in photos and can create a real festival installation vibe for your festival party. Chris Barber caught our Latitude couple standing underneath a lovely cane shade in the wooded area of the festival!!

We hope we have inspired you with our love of lampshades.. Get down to your local boot fair and have a search for some old unloved shades and jazz them up using fringing, beading and some funky fabric. Easy!! xx
