Meet the carnival-loving, break-dancing, roller derbying wedding photographers of your offbeat dreams

New England wedding photographers Novella Photography hooked us right away with their cool-as-hell personalities and of course, their unicorn-riding photo. I mean, who gets us more than a couple of photographers riding in on a unicorn? And that's exactly it - they get offbeat couples because they ARE an offbeat couple!

Let's take a peek into the minds of these fantasy creature-riding photogs to see what makes them tick, how they'll totally own your offbeat ideas, and what killer promotion we've got just for you guys.

Here's a little background from the rad duo of Novella Photography, Paulette and Matt:

When we got married, we didn't have Offbeat Bride as a resource, or even the wedding vocabulary to call it "offbeat," but that's exactly what it was. Our guests took a hay ride to the top of a hill in an orchard for our ceremony, our first dance was accompanied by professional break-dancers, and our reception was carnival-themed with a cotton candy machine, bounce house, wandering (secret) magician, and fire poi performance.

As a couple, we're still pretty offbeat to this day. I play roller derby (my derby name is Ziggy Scarlust - I do the Bowie makeup for games and everything!), and Matt is a "maker" (currently he has a whole line of vintage cameras converted into working desk lamps).

What we know about Paulette and Matt is that they'll never ever ever shy away from your wild ideas or super different notions for your wedding. They also know that the proof is in the details and that capturing those details makes a HUGE difference. They'll be keeping their eye on all the little moments, DIYed decor, and amazing fashion choices that make your wedding, well YOUR wedding. It's because they had those details themselves and totally appreciate what it takes to make those choices.

I know, I know... you don't want to choose your vendors based on how fun and chill-worthy they are. But it's just a huge bonus when they're super talented AND you want to take them out and show them off as your new besties. Actually, let's take another peek into their minds to see just how kick-ass this pair is and how much you'll love them and their photographic style:

Our default photography style fresh out of the box is clean and fun photojournalism with a twist. Want more of a twist? Awesome! Want us to just go bananas? Yes please! Want us to shoot the whole wedding with plastic Holga film cameras? Wow. That's bold. We're in.

Your wedding is about you, so we do our best to stay out of the way. Our favorite compliments are when people tell us how impressed they were that we were like photo ninjas - invisible to the guests, but always there to swoop in and capture those unexpected moments. We do what we need to do to get the shot. Shoulder rides. Laying on the ground. Climbing up to the crow's nest. Hanging from a chandelier. Done and done.

Through the 10 years that we've been shooting together, our work has taken on a reflection of who we are as people: up-beat, laid back, and fun. Whoever you choose to photograph your wedding is going to follow you around the whole day, so you don't want to end up with someone you don't gel with. We invite you to meet up somewhere for coffee or drinks to discuss your wedding and see if we'd be a good fit!

I mentioned a promotion, now didn't I? Oh, we've got one:
