As you know, we're feeling even more loved-up than usual this week!

So to continue our lead-up to Valentine's Day, we thought it was the perfect time to share this gorgeous DIY Fresh Flower Heart with you guys.

We created this blooming love heart with Marianne Taylor Photography and Louise Beukes Styling last year as part of our Bridal Musings Photoshoot, and it's too pretty not to try at home!

This heart would work so nicely as a Valentine's centrepiece (surrounded by tealights!), as a sweet wedding decoration, or as a really thoughtful alternative to giving someone special a bouquet (Mother's Day is coming up!)

You could even try it with good quality faux flowers, or try an even bigger version for a ceremony backdrop.

Impactful, beautiful, and super easy to do, this is our kind of DIY!

What You'll Need:

- Heart Shaped Oasis

- A Mix of Blooms

- A Scissors

How To Make a DIY Flower Heart:

1. Gather Your Tools

Peonies, David Austin Roses, Cabbage Roses or Carnations work really well for this but you could play around with smaller blooms or more rustic styles.

Heart-shaped oasis can be bought online or at many specialty florists or flower markets.

2. Trim Your Stems

Clip your stems to about three inches from the head. They should be able to fit snuggly into the oasis without sticking out over the top.

3. Place The Blooms

Begin to place your blooms, adding a few of the biggest flowers first to build your shape. Try to only touch the stems, as the petals are easily damaged or discoloured if handled.

4. Build Up Your Heart

Keep adding flowers one by one, making sure they're tightly snug against eachother. Rather than dotting them around haphazardly, start from the top and work down.

5. Keep It Consistent

If you're working with a few different colours and sizes, stop to make sure they're evenly spread throughout the heart.

6. Fix in Place

Once all the flowers are in place, some might be bunched together or puckered. Very gently adjust them so they sit evenly. You may need to fix one or two flowers at the top to ensure you have the right curve for a classic 'heart' shape.

And then, et voilà! Your fresh flower heart is ready...

So pretty right, and surprisingly simple!
