Caitlin and Benjamin were engaged during their first vacation together at a ski hill in West Virginia. "By the end of a long day of skiing, we were both exhausted, so we made a pillow fort by the fire and got cozy," Caitlin recalls. "After chatting for a while, Ben brought out a beautiful diamond necklace-not a ring!-and asked me to marry him. It was the perfect proposal."

Nova Scotia was the ideal location for Caitlin and Ben's nuptials. "From the rolling hills to the ocean view to the local flowers, the setting at our venue, Shobac Cottages, could not have been more perfect," Caitlin smiles. Together they worked with their wedding planner, Katelyn Hipson of Elegant Productions, to decorate their venue with earthy details, neutral tones and sea-inspired hues. "The decor really brought out the beauty of the locale, and it all turned out so perfectly."

The couple's wedding day started off grey but crisp, beginning with a catered brunch for family and friends who were staying on-site. "We then all joined together in a group yoga session led by our family friend, Anna von Maltzahn," Caitlin explains. "It was the perfect way to prepare for the day and begin the celebrations."

As an extra-special detail for their wedding, the couple hired a Celtic band for the ceremony and reception. "My family all come from Texas, so introducing them to the province through the traditional music was wonderful," Caitlin says. "We had such a blast dancing with our friends and family-everyone had such a great time!"
