A Fall Wedding in Palm Springs (With Synchronized Swimmers!)

A Fall Wedding in Palm Springs (With Synchronized Swimmers!)

What happens when your venue falls through 6 months before the big day? Take a deep breath then learn from Talia + Tim: sometimes the alternative is even better than the original plan! The sweet duo took design notes from the new location but the main themes held strong: leaving plenty of time to dance, writing their own vows, serving great food, and honoring close family who passed away with photos and mementos. Oh - and what's a wedding without a few fun surprises?!

We'll get to that part in a second, but here's what Talia had to say about planning the day: Our original inspiration was the season (fall) and then it built from there. With the help of our superb wedding planner, Sweet Emilia Jane, we came up with a concept that spoke to us. The wedding was originally at a different venue in a different city, but that fell through six months before our date. Luckily, we stumbled upon The Colony Palms Hotel and fell in love. So our inspiration came a lot from the hotel itself. It's an incredibly lush oasis in the middle of the desert; complete with Moroccan tapestries everywhere and the slight vibe of and outdoor French café. We also wanted to embrace the colors and fruits that go along with fall.

Fondly Forever was on hand to capture all the details from the day!

Love these geometric gold invitations from Minted!

*Awww*

Such a sweet pair!!

Talia carried a fall-inspired bouquet created by Shindig Chic.

Talia's gown is by Lihi Hod (LOVE the beaded bodice and low back!) and her hair and makeup are by 1011 Makeup.

Remember, it's about what the two of you want. Everyone has an opinion and it's easy to get wrapped up in wanting to please everyone. However, we picked our battles where we didn't want to compromise versus what we could do to make certain people in our lives happy. Also, take a date night every week or two where you don't talk about the wedding!! It's so much fun to plan but it's important to take a break too.

How great are these colors for a fall wedding?! We're a big fan burgundy + pink tones with greenery bouquets. Here are a few ideas to get the look for your girls!

Sweet Emilia Jane noted the colors + texture of the foliage as a big role in the original design, a palette based on the different shades of autumn leaves. An assortment of foliage adorned the epic chuppah and marked the aisle.

There wasn't a dry eye during the vows!

Processional: Crazy Love by Van Morrison + Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis

Recessional: Wouldn't it be Nice by Beach Boys

First Dance: Wildflower by Tom Petty

Shindig Chic not only created all the lovely floral elements, but provided calligraphy details, as well!

Seasonal fruit and terra cotta decorated the tables, which fit perfectly with the palette and played off the hotel's tile details.

Love these colors!

Signature Rentals provided furniture for the celebration and La Tavola Linen set the tables!

Our most memorable moment of the wedding day was when, after the cocktail hour, our awesome DJ had everyone gather into the restaurant and he started playing "Signed Sealed Delivered" as he announced us for the first time. We ran in to find all of our friends and family clapping and dancing in a circle around us. It was pure magic. It was so uplifting and positive - it felt like collectively we were all on cloud nine.

How's this for a wedding surprise?? The father of the bride has a history making a surprise splash, and he certainly didn't disappoint for Talia + Tim! Following his toast, he surprised all the guests-including the bride and groom-with a performance from the Aqualillies!

SO fun! And to top it off, Grimace Films made a beautiful film to document the day-see all the details come to life below:
