Blue Blossom: Classic Meets Modern Wedding Inspiration from Russia

If you read our blog a lot or follow us on Instagram, you may have noticed that a group of fine art wedding vendors from Russia are making (dreamy!) waves online with romantic, luxurious wedding inspiration.

Stylists and founders, Viktoria Gusova and Elena Gavrilova of White Chicks Bridal and White Chic Lingerie, are among those leading the movement for modern, stylish weddings in Moscow, and beyond.

And for today's gorgeous shoot they've joined forces with photographer, Katia Tumenyeva of Kiss & Smile and a plethora of vendors, to create a beautiful, floral filled wedding inspiration.

Fusing all things classic with all things contemporary, this shoot will turn the head of anyone who wants a fashion-forward wedding, that still has all the romance of something more traditional.

Fine China table settings and sweeping calligraphy pair beautifully with mix & match bridal separates and undone florals.

Cute getting ready outfits give a chic nod to the modern bridal party, while hair and make-up is kept simple and pretty.

Whether you're planning a wedding brimming with 'Somethings Blue', or if you simply want ideas for mixing the old with the new, this shoot is not only filled with inspiration, but it's serious eye candy too!

From the Stylists

Viktoria Gusova and Elena Gavrilova share more about their original concept for the shoot... Creating the Blue Blossom project we attempted to make a classic story with a modern touch, to make it neoclassical and romantically fulfilled. The white and blue pattern lies in the core of our shoot - throughout centuries it could be seen in ceramics of various countries. China was its homeland, and after the East India Company it became quite popular in Europe. China vases were used in decor along with the dishes with smart blue prints that were found on the flea markets in Paris and Amsterdam, artisan table covers, real silver cutlery and vintage crystal glasses. Snow white peonies and sweet jasmine highlight the beauty of the decor. A retro car was used in the project as well. All these details are definitely creating a classical picture. We decided to make the looks of the bride and her bridesmaids more modern - instead of traditional dresses nice separate tops and skirts were used, careless styling with wild flowers was used for hair and of course the light make-up helped to make the whole project a bit more fresh. As a result we've got a balanced mix of classics and modern approach.

From the Photographer

Katia Tumenyeva of Kiss & Smile tells us what makes this shoot such a special one... Being a photographer for such an incredible photo shoot is an honor indeed - the project itself is not only an elegant masterpiece but has a strong inner thought. Sky blue print with tiny flowers used in décor elements, table settings, bridesmaids' jumpsuits and even bride's dress could be seen in classic art pieces worldwide. Moreover, the image of the blue flower is quite symbolic for Romantic literature of the 18-19 th centuries. It represents inspiration and one true love, endless hope and real beauty of things. This symbol has become a perfect core for our photo story about a girl and a young man preparing for their wedding. An amazing blue dress with a long tail was created for the engagement session - two vast crossed straps nicely highlight the bride's back. As for the bridesmaids, two pretty white and blue morning jumpsuits with the flowery pattern were chosen for them. Blue hues and flowers as a symbolic image of the romantic love and ideal relations match perfectly to each other and together they create a really inspirational photo story.

So gorgeous, right? Oh I just love the idea of a floral wedding dress (and so fitting this week, after all the beautiful floral gowns at the Emmys - it's definitely a trend we're set to see even more in bridal!). Those vintage car shots at the end have such a romantic feel too, don't you think?

Thanks so much to Katia Tumenyeva of Elena Gavrilova of Kiss & Smile, Viktoria Gusova and White Chicks Bridal, and the rest of these wonderful vendors for sharing their blue blossom wedding inspiration with us.
