Calfskin carry-on suitcases, airplane-print cashmere, and tweed jacquard jackets - the CHANEL Spring-Summer Ready-To-Wear Collection is ascending to new heights.

Creative director Karl Lagerfeld transformed Paris' Grand Palais into the Chanel Airlines terminal for the travel-themed runway show-complete with baggage claim, numbered gates, check-in agents, and four male flight attendants pulling sleek, calfskin trolleys down the jetway.

Blues, reds, and whites had a strong presence, alongside striking metallic silvers for a futuristic take on travel attire. Lagerfeld never shys away from texture-play, blending tweed, cashmere, lambskin, and crêpe de chine with customary grace.

Accessories echo the collection's theme with airplane charms and minaudières disguised as micro-sized luggage. Shoes with light-up platform soles mimic glowing airplane aisles, and oversized shield sunglasses are a nod to modern aviators.

From check-in to boarding, the show was a utopian vision of everyday air travel. Alas, not the experience most of us associate with airport endeavors... "It's the idea of how it should look," says Lagerfeld.

We may not be able to fly Chanel Airlines, but the spring ready-to-wear collection is clearly ready for takeoff. Explore for yourself at select Neiman Marcus stores.
