This DIY Wedding Is Your Pinterest Board Come To Life

Marrianne Mercer had a very specific vision for her wedding, and she made it all happen with her own two hands.
"Doing a DIY ceremony was really exciting," the Kent, England-based bride told The Huffington Post. "After getting engaged I had a real vision for the type of ceremony and reception I wanted to create for us. We chose a beautiful little village church, and a blank canvas village hall for the reception. I love color and so couldn't resist a bright summer palette."
The 32-year-old, who walked down the aisle back in August 2013 with husband David Miall, made everything from the cake to the confetti over the course of eight months, according to the Daily Mail.
Mercer is a graphic designer for the publisher Search Press and has turned her big day into a book titled My Handmade Wedding, available for pre-order and set for a May 2016 release.
While she admits it was a little "overwhelming at times," she had help from family and friends. Her husband's mother helped make scented candles as party favors. Guests brought cookies and cakes for the dessert spread.
"Guests seemed to really like the decorations and the beauty of such a relaxed day," Mercer told HuffPost. "It was bright and cheerful and we were very lucky to have a very sunny day so we were able to enjoy the outdoor decoration as well. Guests even took home some of the paper flowers as keepsakes. The local villagers were taken aback by all decorations too!"
Photographer Steve Fuller echoed the brides's sentiments in his description of the day.
"It was an incredibly fun and informal day which is what Marrianne and Dave wanted," he told HuffPost. "Each wedding I photograph is unique in its own special way, and this wedding being set in a local village hall gave them a completely blank canvas in which they could add all of their homemade elements and make it theirs."
Altogether, the day cost the couple about $13,000, according to the Daily Mail. Looking back, Mercer wouldn't change a thing.
"I would do it all exactly the same," she said. "The key to a successful DIY wedding is to be super organized and make lists of everything that needs making, finishing, buying, organizing, etc. We both had a fantastic day and wanted to do it all again the following day!"
