via

Located in the heart of Florida, Ocala is a great choice for both local minimoons and out-of-state visitors seeking a centralized location. A charming, small city filled with interesting sights, Ocala is also within easy driving distance to other popular cities in Florida such as Daytona Beach, Gainesville, and Orlando. Abutting a national forest, this gorgeous area is a prime example of all of the natural beauty that can be found in the Sunshine State! Check out these great Ocala landmarks to add to your must-see list!

Silver Springs

Visit the enchanting Silver Springs park (pictured above) for a fun afternoon outdoors. You can ride horses, rent kayaks, and even take a glass-bottomed boat tour. Outdoorsy couples will appreciate the local campsites and all the wildlife, from alligators to great blue herons. Whether you stay overnight or not, there is plenty to see and do, so give yourself ample time to explore!

Ocala National Forest

Another fabulous spot for nature lovers is Ocala National Forest. It's a vast area filled with everything from wetlands to lush, otherworldly springs (make sure to hike up to Juniper Springs). If you are local and headed here on a minimoon, make sure to bring your bikes. There are fun (albeit challenging) trails for you to experience which will allow you a unique view of the forest.

Sholom Park

Visit this peaceful retreat from the world and you two will find yourselves renewed after all of the wedding stress. You'll breathe deep as you walk around this quiet Florida oasis (pictured above) featuring ponds, hiking trails, and beautiful gardens.

Appleton Museum of Art

In a city with a population of less than 60,000 people, you don't necessarily expect a great art museum. But in Ocala, they absolutely have one. The Appleton Museum of Art is a must-see destination on your itinerary. With a diverse collection of permanent exhibits and a dynamic selection of exhibitions, there will be art for both of you to enjoy!
