Floral Pretty Chintz Country Garden Marquee Wedding - Whimsical...

Oh my, this wedding is bursting at the seams with pretty. You guys are going to fall head over heels for the whole wonderful celebration.

WWW readers Lauren and Thomas tied the knot on the 25th July 2015 and held their reception at Tom's parent's house in a majestic Wills Marquees tent. It looked absolutely drop dead gorgeous. The vintage feel pole marquee was packed with chintz china, floral table runners and fresh blooms. The bridesmaids looked fabulous in their multi-way dresses while Lauren went for a lace Justin Alexander gown with stunning flower crown. Wow.

Much of the day was home made and it really gave their wedding a personal homely feel.

Thanks so much to Lisa Howard Photography for sharing these glorious images today.

THE PROPOSAL | Tom and I had been together for over 8 years when we got finally got engaged. I knew it was coming as we had been up to York, Tom's home town, the weekend before and Tom had gone shopping without me. When he arrived back, he had the biggest grin on his face and he looked very proud of himself - I guessed what he had just gone and bought! The following week, we went for a picnic on the Malvern Hills, overlooking our first home we had bought together. Tom was marching up the hill and when we got to the top, it started to rain just as we were about to have our picnic. We didn't let the rain stop us though, Tom told me he had a 'special starter' for me and he got down on one knee and proposed. He chose the perfect ring - he obviously had taken note of all the rings I had pointed out over the years! We went down to our local pub to shelter from the rain and celebrate.

THE VISION | Country garden party! I love all things vintage and pretty so I knew exactly the look I was going for - I had thought about the wedding long before we were engaged and had already started collecting bits and bobs for the big day! Together, our main aim was to have a relaxed wedding that was filled with good food, great drink and fantastic music to dance to!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We had a long engagement but I was so excited to get started straight away. Pinterest was amazing and as we were pretty much the last of our friends to get married, I had loads of wedding magazines handed on to me so I also started a scrapbook of ideas. I created list after list and soon got started on making lots of crafts for the day - save the dates, invites, order of service, favours, table runners.

BUDGET | Tom was in charge of organising and sticking to budgets! We managed to keep costs down by making lots of things ourselves like creating our own photo booth and getting friends and family to help make the wedding cake and puddings.

VENUE | We had always talked about getting married at Tom's parents' house. I really didn't like the idea of lots of other couples getting married at the same venue and so I loved the thought of us being the only people to celebrate our wedding there. We got married in the small church the other end of the village. The chapel is a small, quaint church that has one of the few remaining wooden towers in England.

We had a beautiful marquee from 'Wills Marquees' in the grounds of Tom's parents' house. The marquee could not have been more perfect and everyone at the company were so friendly and helpful. Tom's parents had worked very hard to ensure all the gardens were at their best and it was the most beautiful place to spend our day. Guests could go and explore the walled garden, where they would find the photo booth and enjoy a chat on the straw bales under the fruit trees in the orchard or go for a stroll in the wood. Some guests also chose to camp in the grounds so they could stumble back to bed at whatever time they pleased.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Justin Alexander dress 8665 - It is amazing how different the dress looks after the alterations I had done! I had a very simple veil so that you could appreciate the beautiful lace on the dress itself. I added a Justin Alexander belt to the dress to finish the look. I was kindly given a beautiful diamond necklace by my Godmother to wear on the day. My Mum bought me some lovely drop earrings to match. I treated myself to some Rachel Simpson shoes called Victoria. I am very short so wanted a bit of height but was very aware that I am not the best in heels. The shoes were so comfy and I almost lasted all day in them before I changed into my flat sandals for the dancing!

FINDING THE DRESS | I had been to a few dress shops and tried on a range of styles. I liked elements of different dresses but nothing was perfect. I found my Justin Alexander dress from White Minx in Hereford, I had not picked out the dress to try as it was strapless and I knew I wanted something with a lace top. Luci, the shop owner picked it out to try and I loved it - I couldn't stop smiling whilst wearing it and it just felt beautiful. She helped me with ideas to alter the design of the dress and the idea that no one else would have the same dress as me made it even more special. I had the alterations done by Oxana and they were perfect - she used the jacket and veil that came with the dress to add lace sleeves, a beaded belt, enhance the sweetheart neckline and create a V shape at the back of the dress.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Tom chose very traditional tails and him and all his grooms men hired them from Brays, a local shop in Malvern. He insisted everyone wore identical outfits and even hired black shiny shoes for everyone too - much to everyone's disgust!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a local choir singing for us in the church. They sounded beautiful and gave us a helping hand with the hymns! I walked in to Handel Water music, which was what my Mum had walked into during their wedding. During the signing of the register we played Eva Cassidy Songbird followed by the choir singing Ave Maria. They sang 'All You Need Is Love' by The Beatles for our departure as husband and wife. We chose the reading 'Song of Soloman' as our bible reading and I found the perfect poem online called 'The Future' by Emma Salmon. Every line seemed to be appropriate to our lives!

For our reception music, we knew exactly what band we wanted, we just had to find them! Not long after Tom and I had first got together, we ended up gate crashing a village party down the road to his parents' house. The band playing were incredible and we danced the night away, we said then that we have to have the same band at our wedding. When we got engaged we set out on our quest to find them! We went round to the house of the party host who pointed us in the direction of the lead singers house - the local farrier to the village. It turned out the band had split up years ago but in the last few months they had started to play again - it was meant to be! We booked The Zooms there and then. We had such fun dancing to all our favourite songs, which started with our first dance 'Grow Old With Me' by Tom Odell and our second dance 'She Moved In Her Own Way' by the Kooks.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My beautiful maid of honour was my best friend Lisa-Marie, who I have been best friends with since we were babies. She got married last year and was 5 months pregnant on our big day! Two of my bridesmaids were good school friends of mine, Kate and Amy and then Aimz, who is a close friend I met at university. They all looked stunning in their Grecian grey twist and wrap dresses from BHS. I was really pleased with the dresses and their versatility, even with a baby bump, although they did cause some stresses trying to tie them on the morning of the wedding. I think we needed to have practised more! I had my two beautiful nieces as flower girls - they wore pretty spotty tulle and lace dresses from Next. They looked angelic in their flower crowns that matched mine.

THE FLOWERS | The flowers were something that was very important to me as I love flowers and both sets of parents are keen gardeners. The bouquets, button holes and flower crowns were created by Yvonne Dennis and she could not have made them any more perfect - they were even better than I had imagined. They were so beautiful and the pastel colours looked great against the soft grey tones of the bridesmaid's dresses and cravats. I wanted to have a flower crown to wear in the evening of the wedding and I am so glad I did - it meant I could enjoy the beauty of the flowers for the whole day without having to cling on to my bouquet on the dance floor! All of the other flowers were done by my Mum, my mother in law and myself. Most of which were grown in the gardens at Raskelf by Tom's Mum. They were perfect - we picked them the day before and spent time making up different arrangements in the vintage jugs, milk churns and jam jars I had bought from various flea markets in Malvern. I hand tied little posies of sweet peas to put in jam jars on the pews of the church. Sweet peas are one of my favourite flowers - I love the colours and the amazing scent. I wanted people to walk into the church and be hit with the smell of flowers!

THE CAKE | The Cake! My brother Jon, who has never really done much baking before, decided to volunteer to make our wedding cake! He baked all of the sponges in advance and then on the wedding day, with the help of his girlfriend Tracy, he decorated the cake once we had arrived back at the marquee after the ceremony. He used fresh strawberries, blackcurrants, raspberries and redcurrants along with cream roses and pink stocks. It looked amazing - I was so proud that he had created our beautiful cake and he seemed so humble and chilled about the whole thing!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | I found this difficult - I spent hours and hours trawling the internet to look for the perfect photographer. Everyone always told me how important it was, as it was something from the wedding that you get to keep forever. I loved the natural, relaxed style to Lisa Howard's images and after meeting her at Raskelf to show her around the venue I knew she would be great on the day. Lisa saw things differently to me, and areas of the garden I would normally have disregarded; she saw as quirky character features of an old Farmhouse. We are massively pleased with our photos and although we put quite a bit of emphasis on getting a number of groups shots on the day, our favourite photographs are the natural ones, where she has caught someone's reaction to a funny part in the speech or me and Tom chatting together or the crazy dance moves that look place in the evening!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I had a clear vision in my head as to how I wanted the venue to look. We wanted a vintage style marquee and when we went to visit Wills Marquees at an open day at Byland Abbey we instantly fell in love with them. It made me feel that it wouldn't matter if it rained because the marquee was so beautiful people would enjoy being inside all day! Luckily the sun shone for us anyway but we all still enjoyed being in the gorgeous marquee. I covered the inside and outside with bunting that I borrowed off Amy and Kate, my crafty bridesmaids, as they had made lots for their own weddings. We filled the marquee with vintage jugs bursting with flowers and pretty floral table runners that my mum made.

I wanted as many personal touches as possible so Tom and I made the wedding favours, it was lovely to spend time together making shaving soap for the men - Tom was very proud of his efforts! We found an amazing vintage shaving soap box at the Malvern flea market that we used as our card box. I made the hanging hearts that matched the fabric of the table runners, table numbers and the bunting used on the invitations, table plan and cake topper.

I had collected lots of vintage china tea cups and plates from charity shops, car boot sales and flea markets and arranged them on the tables. They were meant to be used for coffee and cake but many people used them for their beer or wine! My mum also used vintage china to make teacup candles to light the marquee at night. We filled the trees in the orchard with tea light jam jars. It looked so romantic at night time with them all lit up.

To entertain our guests we created our own photo booth in the gardens by just simply decorating a bench and providing lots of silly props for the guests to use. Guests also played garden games or chilled by the fire pit on the straw bales.

To help with the personal touch, we created a 'Family Tree' which had old family wedding pictures and my Mum created a photo collage of Tom and I over the years! Both very creative, my Nana and Cousin, Christie, drew a tree guest book for our guests to print a leaf onto.

Tom loves craft beer so we provided each table with a beer bucket filled with a range of craft beers, ales and ciders. The puddings were a big hit on the day - family and friends made a selection of puddings for people to tuck into. This also saved us money with the catering!

THE HONEYMOON | We flew out to Kefalonia, Greece on the Tuesday after the wedding for a week long mini moon. Kefalonia was where we first went on holiday together 8 years ago and we wanted to go back as it was so beautiful the first time we visited. It was great to relax after the build up to the wedding and we also celebrated my 30 th whilst we were away. We plan to go to Vietnam for 2 weeks over the Christmas break too - neither of us have been outside Europe so we really can't wait.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Once the service was over all of our guests made their way to the church gates ready to throw confetti, Tom and I had a few moments to ourselves to think about how special the day was - it was lovely to have time just the two of us to let the events of the day sink in! Once we met our guests at the gates we had the most amazing confetti tunnel. It went on for ever and it was so cool!

During the first dance our niece, Emmie, came to join us dancing. She was shaking the tambourine to the music and was having so much fun. I put the tambourine under their table as it has become a bit of a tradition at my friends weddings to play the tambourine along with the band!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | We hadn't planned it, but we waited outside the church after the ceremony to be congratulated by everyone as they walked out. It was great as it was lovely to see all of our guests and we were sure we had spoken to everyone on the day. It meant we were free to let our hair down and dance and party the night away later, all our guests loved to watch us enjoying ourselves.
