How to Look Like the Ultimate California Girl

How to Look Like the Ultimate California Girl

via

There've been hundreds of songs written about California (and Cali girls) ... and for good reason. From their glowing skin to their beach-ready hair, these babes are always up for an adventure. Whether they're off surfing in SoCal, sipping vino at a vineyard in wine country, taking in the music scene on the Sunset strip or partying in Hollywood, Cali girls know how to look the part, no matter their surroundings. But, you don't have to live on the West Coast to look hella cool thanks to this ULTIMATE California girl tutorial created by makeup pro Marygene Rose.

Step 1. Apply a lightweight foundation all over the skin using a duo fiber stippling brush (that's the brush with the white-tipped bristles). Lightly contour the sides of your nose, cheekbones and around the forehead near your hairline with a slightly darker foundation or a contour stick like the Lancôme Le Duo Stick. Go light with your contour product, as the goal for this look is to still maintain a natural, daytime appearance!

Step 2. Apply primer to your lids and dust a shimmery brown eye shadow shade all over your lid and along your lower lash line. Layer on a rich, gold shadow and blend the colors in well. Rose used the "Snakebite" and "Half Baked" shade from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Swipe on a volume-building mascara like L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara and fill brows in with a brow powder (we love the Urban Decay Brow Box!).

Step 3. Using a fluffy blush brush, apply a bright pink blush like NYX High Definition Blush in Baby Doll to the apples your cheeks blending upward toward your cheekbones. Then, finish off your look with a pinkish-nude lip gloss like Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Born With It and you're California dreamin'!
