Who What Wear Co-founder Hillary Kerr's Fall Style Advice

Hillary Kerr, co-founder and editor of Who What Wear, is our guest clothing curator this fall. And we couldn't be more excited about her selections. Kerr chose pieces that offer that urbane femininity evident in her signature style, which often includes floral skirts, leather jackets, pretty blouses and cinched waists.

If you feel like your seasonal wardrobe could use a little oomph, look no further than this media entrepreneur with a yen for celebrity fashion. Here's what every closet needs for fall, in Kerr's words.

1. A sleek sheath
"There's something so inherently elegant about a sleek sheath, especially one in a rich, autumnal hue. This Ted Baker London option is elevated by an embellished neckline, while the below-the-knee hemline makes it an ideal choice for the office (just add a sharp blazer) or your off-duty events (especially when styled with a cropped leather jacket)."

2. An oversized vest
"A long or oversized vest, like this one [from Theory], is a smart third piece to invest in right now. It adds significant interest to an otherwise simple outfit and can really help transition your closet into the cooler months. Wear it over a sleek, minimalist dress and styled with flat oxfords now, while the weather's still warm, then pair it with form-fitting fall staples-like a turtleneck, slim pants and boots-when the autumn air gets brisk."

3. A textured coat
"It's all about texture, texture, texture this season, and what better way to embrace the trend than with this stunning fringed coat [from Rebecca Taylor]? It will add a little bohemian luxury to your favorite denim-and-T-shirt looks on the weekend, but also works with more feminine pieces, like a little black dress. The coat is one of those low-fuss, high-impact essentials that's on every editor's shopping list...including mine!"

4. A cozy sweater
"Cozy sweaters are always a fall wardrobe essential, but this biscuit-colored style from Joie is particularly yummy because it also has a chic version of a hood. (Seriously! Think of it as Hoodie 2.0: still snuggly, but now with more elevated style!) In addition to being an excellent weekend staple, the sweater is the perfect piece to have on hand when you travel."

5. Black skinnies with a white shirt
"I'm always on the lookout for cool versions of everyday essentials, and the search stops here with this MARC BY MARC JACOBS look. From flawless black skinnies to the interesting iteration of a white button-up to the nerd-chic cardigan, these pieces should be welcome additions to anyone's closet."

6. A versatile coat
"When investing in outerwear, versatility should be a top consideration, which is why this reversible coat [from Derek Lam 10 Crosby] is such a brilliant option. Not only is the coat a standout already-thanks to its of-the-moment silhouette-but the fact that you can flip it from classic navy to must-try mustard makes it practically priceless!"

7. A plaid piece
"A little bit of grunge is always a good idea, especially if it comes via a classic red-and-black plaid jacket. This lightweight outerwear option [from Current/Elliott] has a nonchalantly boxy silhouette, so wear it with slim pieces like cropped leather skinnies or a minimalist black skirt for a boy-meets-girl look."
