3 Ways to Style a Lob

3 Ways to Style a Lob

Here at MDC, we are lucky enough to have a panel of experts to sound off on those topics that leave the everyday girl scratching her head. Today, for example, we asked hair guru Zachary Morad to give us some hair inspo for one of the trendiest cuts on the block: the lob.

It's not news that the lob is everything right now. However, like any hot hairstyle, we've seen a lot of repetition in the way that we are styling these sassy cuts. Moving into fall, we are going see some more creativity when it comes to styling shorter 'dos. Here are some easy, fabulous ways to give your lob new life!!

We all big fans of beach waves, and I think we can agree that they're a great look on all hair lengths - including the lob! Freshen up the waves but running a flat iron over the ends. Straightening your ends will not only make them nice and smooth, but it will also add a more dramatic edge. For some fullness, spray your lob with a texturizing spray like Shu Uemura Texture Wave.

Despite the rise of the beach waves, rich girl hair and retro curl, we also seem to be moving to a place where straight hair is becoming the new modern. My favorite look for a lob involves straightening it and brushing it all back away from your face. Give the front hairline a spritz of a strong hold hairspray (try L'Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Bold Control Hairspray) and fasten the sides with a couple rubber-coated bobby pins (try colored ones for a fun accessory). Finish with one last generous amount of hairspray and you have a style that can work both during the day and night!

Another way we are seeing the lob take new form is in the updo ... or, rather, the half-updo. There are lots of half-up styles out there but the one that reigns supreme is the half-up top knot. Starting at your temples, section off your hair up top using your fingers or a comb. Begin to pull the top section into a bun (remember, the messier the better!). Secure with a few hair pins and you will rocking the look all the blogs are raving about!
