Beautiful & Intimate Spring Non Weddingy Wedding in Brighton -...

via

Being a wedding photographer, Jacqui wanted a non weddingy wedding to Andy, which took place on March 27 th 2015. They chose the gorgeous Royal Pavilion in Brighton for their intimate ceremony followed by a big party at the Caribou Rooms.

Beside the beautiful Spring blooms, fluffy orange pom poms and thoughtful music choices, there were some very special moments. For Jacqui and Andy their first glimpse of one another on the day was truly memorable and you can just feel the emotions in these wonderful images.

Jacqui looked so beautiful in her belted lace dress by Joanne Fleming Design, which she teamed with vintage style Agnes and Norman shoes. While Andy looked dapper in a navy blue suit and burgundy tie.

Thanks so very much to Fazackarley Photography for sharing these super lovely photographs with us.

THE PROPOSAL | Prague, summer of 2014.

Jacqui: I was there to photograph a friends wedding, Andy joined me and we had a wonderful few days. The wedding was beautiful and I think it really made an impression on us. A day after we were having dinner in a beautiful little square in a quite part of town and the proposal just sort of happened.

Andy: I'd known for a while I was going to ask Jacqui to marry me. I guess I was waiting for the right moment. That night when I looked at her across the table on that Prague summer evening, she looked so beautiful, and I knew that moment had come. I hadn't rehearsed or anything, it was all a bit convoluted - she had to ask for clarification!

THE VISION | We really wanted a non weddingy wedding!! I am at weddings all year round and while I love them all I didn't want to feel like I was at work! We wanted an intimate ceremony and a big party in the evening.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Jacqui: That was more fun than I thought it would be. I think the hardest but was being limited on numbers both by choice and design. We could only have 45 people to the ceremony so that meant we had to think long and hard about who we had with us when we said I Do.

Andy: I made pom poms! Orange pom poms ....

THE VENUE | The ceremony was at The Royal Pavilion in Brighton. We had family and friends coming from overseas so we couldn't think of a better way to show off Brighton than with this beautiful building. I've shot a lot of weddings there and I knew the staff were wonderful. They made us feel really special in the run up to the wedding and on the day. The Registrar was someone I've come to know over the years so it was wonderful to have a friend perform the ceremony.

The party was at The Caribou Rooms in Hove. A lovely relaxed feel to the place, spread over 3 floors with a dancefloor and bar in the basement. Our guests were invited to each put together a half hour DJ set for everyone else to endure! Those who fancied a bit of peace and quiet were able to find sanctuary on the floors above.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Joanne Fleming Design and Agnes Norman shoes.

FINDING THE DRESS | Well, that was pretty easy. Joanne Fleming is actually one of my oldest friends. We were flatmates in the early days of our careers and she was my best woman on the day. Last year I was in Russia to photograph Jo's collection being shown there. That's where I first saw and fell in love with the gold lace. Jo knew I wanted something unfussy and classic and she just worked her magic.

Jo also knew how much I would miss my parents who passed away some years ago. She sewed their initials inside the dress on the lining, right by my heart. That was pretty special.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | A Blue 3 piece suit from Hammond & Co by Patrick Grant, bought off the peg but then tailored to fit.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Jacqui: I'm Irish so we had some WB Yeats to remind me of home Aedh Wishes for the Clothes of Heaven by William Butler Yeats.

Andy: I probably spent far too long deliberating over the music for the ceremony. While people were waiting we played The Love Theme From Bladerunner by Vangelis - neither of us are sci-fi fans, but it's such a beautiful piece of music. When Jacqui walked in we played The Girl With The Sun In Her Hair by John Barry, it just seemed apt and quite rousing and magical.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | No bridesmaids, best woman was Joanne Fleming wearing an amazing outfit of her own choice and our best man, Andy's son Keiran.

THE FLOWERS | Miss Mole Flower Emporium. Barbara was right on my wave length, she knew I didn't really have a clue what I wanted and guided me brilliantly. She was just so lovely to deal with and even on the morning of the wedding she was this gorgeous, calming and sweet presence. She is super talented!!! The main flower was the ranunculus which is now my favourite flower!! She let us put the table flower together ourselves but gave us step by step instructions which was very sweet.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The wonderful Simon Fazerackly. It's not easy to photograph another photographers' wedding! He did a gorgeous job, captured exactly everything I could have wished for. He created beautiful photos and I cry al lot when I look at them!! Great photographer and a lovely guy.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We did the usual thing of collecting jam jars till they were coming out of our ears! And I went a bit bonkers making pom poms! The venue had just the right feel so we didn't have to do a lot. The florist delivered all the flowers for the tables the night before and my friends and I put the jars together. That was actually really enjoyable and a nice memory.

THE HONEYMOON | Just a ( lovely) week in Devon. We are hoping for something more exotic after the wedding season is over.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Jacqui: The morning was wonderful, all my girlfriends, my sister and Andy's daughters were there, I loved those few hours! Walking up to The Pavilion, the nerves started to hit and walking in to the room. I just felt this sort of sea of people but I couldn't see anyone but Andy, that was amazing. I've shot so many weddings, I thought I'd know what to expect but that was pretty special. Also, we had informal speeches and looking out at everyone at that point is one of my favourite moments. It was the only time that I had to fight the photographer in me, I really wanted to grab a camera at that moment!!!

Andy: When I was waiting at the Pavilion I caught a glimpse of Jacqui arriving. She must have been with Jo, her best woman and Simon, the photographer, but from where I was standing she seemed completely alone. It was the first time I'd seen her in her dress and it literally took my breath away .... Also having a G&T at the bar of the Grand Hotel with my son before we walked through the sunshine to the Pavilion with my son and his family, and having my two daughters beside me when I got married. It was perfect and full of love!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Just chill out!! Ha, I know that sounds a bit blunt but you can go a bit crazy in the run up. You can plan for everything but on the day the love in the room is all that matters. Cheesy but true.
