The 5 Statement Eyes You Need to Rock This Summer

The 5 Statement Eyes You Need to Rock This Summer

via

One of the major beauty trends of 2015 is statement eye makeup. The best thing about this trend is that really anything goes. A statement eye can range from sultry, smoky shadow to electric eyeliner. Because we're in the throes of summer and color is all around us, we decided to show you five statement eyes that will brighten up any look (and take less than 10 minutes to throw together!). Get ready to let your eyes do all the talking.

All That Glitters

Step 1: Prep the eye with primer and dust a neutral, nude shadow on the lid and just below the lower lashline.

Step 2: Take a highly pigmented glittery gold eyeliner or shadow pencil (try Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Goldmine) and draw a thick line across the lower lashline. Use a blender brush and blur the line outward.

Step 3: Apply a thick coat of mascara to the upper and lower lashes.

Pretty In Purple

Step 1: Take a white eyeliner (like NYX Cosmetics Slide On Pencil in Pure White) and line the lower waterline with a thick coat. It's OK if it's a bit cakey and messy, as you will be blending it out anyway.

Step 2: Take a bright purple eyeliner (try Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof in Amethyst) and line the outer half of your lower lashline with a thick layer.

Step 3: Using a blender brush, gently buff out the liner, starting at the inner corner of the eye and working toward the middle of the lower lashline. Blend until the transition from white to purple is seamless and natural. Finish off with some mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

Green Dream

Step 1: Prep your eyelid with eye primer (we love Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Enigma) and blend it well.

Step 2: Take a bright green liquid liner (like NYX Cosmetics Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Green) and draw a line across the upper lid, winging it out at the end. If you struggle with a steady hand, try these tips to troubleshoot that cat eye.

Step 3: Go over the line again to make it a bit thicker and build on the color intensity. Make sure the wing is distinct and feel free to exaggerate the length if needed.

Baby Blues

Step 1:
Using an angled liner brush, apply a thick line of baby blue/teal powder shadow (like Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadow in Brash Blue) along the lower lash line. Repeat the line a couple times and make sure you extend it so it goes slightly beyond the outer corners of the eyes.

Step 2: Take a blender brush and gently buff out the line so you get a smoky effect. Finish off with mascara.

White Out

Step 1:
Prep the eye with a matte eye primer and blend it over the entire lid.

Step 2: Line the upper lashline with white eyeliner. Add a little color to the inner lower corners of the eye as well. Build on the color until you get a stark white line.

Step 3: Use a blender brush to buff out the lower corners of the eyes. Apply mascara.
