Elegant & Classic Canadian Wedding

Elegant & Classic Canadian Wedding

via

Today we've got a super romantic wedding to share with you guys, Brittany and Thomas' Windsor Ontario bash.

Captured by Vicki Bartel Photography (whose dreamy style, we're massive fans of) their day combined luxurious details with light tones, for a fresh, yet classic look.

With contrasting hues of blue and gold with cloud-like white blossoms scattered throughout, the overall style of their day was airy, soft and sophisticated.

An outdoor winery wedding ceremony, was followed by an Italian foodie feast at Ambassador Golf Club with beautiful decor (and a homemade dessert table we're pretty jealous of!)

But our favourite thing about this wedding has to be hopeless romantics, Brittany and Thomas, their music choices, their vows and their sweet surprises for each other - this couple are too blooming cute!

Wedding Day Snapshot

Our Love Story

We were both working together at Applebees Restaurant. I was a server and he was a cook. He ended up asking me out where the dishwashing area was, very discretely. He told me he would call me when he finished his shift at work. He ended up calling me and we went out for dessert and a movie that night.

Our Proposal Story

I was finishing up a shift at Applebees, and I got a call from Tom. He was wondering when I was going to be done work. He said on the phone that he was waiting for me at our new house we just recently bought and wanted to show me some new renovations he was doing to the washroom. He said that if I didn't come soon then he was going to leave and just show me another day. I finally got done, and was driving home. I walked up to our door and opened it, there Tom was on one knee asking me to marry him. There were candles and rose petals everywhere on our non-renovated floor. It was perfect.

Advice for Other Couples

DO NOT STRESS. I was going through nursing school, had a waitressing job, did renovations on our house, and we still managed The key to planning the big day is to always be organized. Always go with your gut when making a decision Remember that its YOUR day and you don't Major help for us planning the wedding would be Pinterest and Etsy. Those two websites made the planning process easy and fun. We wanted something different, something not a lot of people would think about doing. I saw a post on Instagram on Dessy's real weddings and saw this beautiful blue colour. The colour ended up being called 'Windsor Blue' which oddly enough that is where we are from Windsor Ontario. I thought this be meant to be. So on a whim, I ordered that colour without even seeing it in person. I'm glad I did because it was one of my favourite parts of our wedding. The groomsmen were dressed in grey suits since we wanted a more rustic vibe to our wedding. They didn't rent, they bought the suits. Tom wanted each guy to have a keepsake from the wedding that they could re-wear in the future. want to have any future regrets. My friend came up with the idea to write Tom a note that he would read at the aisle. I wrote "I can't wait to kiss you". My nephew (ring bearer) had this note attached to his pillow along with the rings. My nephew said to Tom "Here's a note for you Uncle Tommy, it's from Aunt Brittany". Tom will never forget that. At the end of Tom's speech at the reception, He turned and said to me "I know I'm not one for compliments so remember this moment" John Legend, You & I came on over the speakers and immediately grabbed my hand and walked me to the dance floor. All the wedding party came up and danced as well. He had this all planned. In that moment I couldn't believe that this man was all mine. I will never forget that moment. and don't put much value in when other people provide you with their own opinion. In my bouquet, it had baby's breath and white cream roses. Pinned to my bouquet was a broach from my mother in law and I wanted something borrowed from each side signifying two families The bridesmaids held bunches of baby's breath tied with ribbon, beautiful and airy. Centerpieces at the reception ranged from baby's breath to white cream roses and hydrangeas. I wanted my Tom wore baby's breath with a single cream rose and the groomsmen wore baby's breath. reception to look light and dreamy and the flowers helped with achieving just that. Our vows to each other was found online. I stumbled upon them and knew it was us: "I take you to be my best friend, my faithful partner, and my one true love. I promise to encourage you and inspire you and to love I will forever be there to laugh with you, to lift you up when you are down and to love you unconditionally through all of our adventures in life together." Our wedding budget was $40,000 (You will most likely go over your budget!) you truly through good times and bad. We wanted something non-traditional. We also wanted the option for our guests to be able to go out on the patio where they could share a laugh and have a conversation without loud music. Rustic chic with cream and gold. We wanted something that represents us. We wanted people to walk into our ceremony or reception and know they came to the right place. Cream lace overlay table cloths and gold chiavari chairs were a must have. We had elements of birch wood and baby's breath was the flower of choice. I wanted to walk into our reception and see beautiful white flowers everywhere. We had a candle lit head table with an over draping of greenery which hung from the ceiling. Our guestbook was also special. We wanted something that we could hang up in our house that represented us. Tom and I love to travel, and I happened to be looking on Etsy one day for ideas and saw this guestbook map. Picking Ambassador Golf Course and all its windows, we knew that all the natural sunlight Following our ceremony at Sprucewood Shores Winery we had a mini cocktail hour with wine, cheese and crackers. The one thing that was a must to have at our reception was Steam Whistle Beer from Toronto, Ontario. The beer is said to be bloat friendly which is always a good thing when wearing a wedding dress. We also had a fully stocked open bar for all our guests. Our meal started off with an antipasto bar that featured a different assortment of finger foods like flatbread, shrimp, samosas, Italian cured meats, cheeses and grilled vegetables. We started off with a light green salad in a champagne vinaigrette and a "Gemelli" (our last name) Noodle Pasta Amatriciana. This is a traditional Italian pasta dish that incorporates the flavours of a tomato sauce, pancetta (Italian bacon) onions and chilies. We gave our guests options for their main course and had the choice of chicken (stuffed with goat cheese and roasted red pepper), beef (filet mignon, cooked to a perfect medium rare) or vegetarian (seasonal choice was a stuffed eggplant). Each entree was accompanied with asparagus and potato dauphinoise which was to die for. For our midnight snack, poutine (a French-Canadian tradition) and Montreal smoked meat sliders, yum! For dessert, most of the credit goes to Tom's mom Pat and his aunt Diane because it was all homemade. We had a dessert table that featured lemon bars, chocolate covered pretzels, lemon blueberry cupcakes, mini cheese cakes, palmiers and more. would shine through making it dreamy and bright. Processional: Memories of Us, Keith Urban. This song had always been our song throughout dating. We would listen to it and know that this is our song. Recessional: I Choose You, Sara Bareilles. We wanted something a little upbeat but still romantic and cute. All music was performed at the ceremony by a local singer Joseph Anthony. First Dance: All of Me, John Legend. One night we were going through videos online and saw a new song release from John Legend. It was exciting because he hasn't released anything in awhile. We listened to All of Me and we both looked at each other and knew that this was our song. We then showed his parents our song choice and his father immediately started crying. That's when we knew we made the right choice. We started looking online that night for tour dates and bought two tickets to see him perform our song live. It was a very surreal experience. Listening to him singing our wedding song, we knew it was meant to be. That song couldn't be more perfect and will always be special to us. becoming one. It was simple but still elegant. I was looking up top honeymoon destinations for 2014 and stumbled upon an article that listed Positano. I've never heard of this place before and immediately fell in love. Tom is Italian and has never been to Italy so this was a dream come true. Positano offered everything we were looking for, beaches, fresh local food, culture, nightlife, activities and more. The fresh pasta and the late nights sipping on limoncello is a must if anyone travels here! a necklace from my mom that wrapped around my bouquet. to plan the wedding. Isn't it beautiful! I just love all the white and gold decor, and I know I've been a bit obsessed with bridesmaids in blue lately, but I just think they look so unusual and stylish, don't you?
