Dancing, Dancing in Motown | MS Bridal Guru

via

This week I am in Motown, Detroit for a Premier Bride conference! I grew up listening and dancing (mostly dancing) to Motown artists like Ike & Tina Turner, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Marvin Gaye, Smoky Robinson and so many more, the list is endless.

Here I am in Detroit, Michigan for another conference. I'm glad my sweet husband can stay home and take care of the house and the babies.

What do I know about Detroit? Not a whole lot other than this is the hub of American cars being manufactured. That is why it is nicknamed "Motor City" and thus Motown for these great artists, their music and their beat. Of course, I know there are the Detroit Lions football team and the Detroit Pistons basketball team. But, I have to confess, my knowledge of this area of the country is very limited. So I did a little checking on Detroit facts so I am better informed.

First, I had no idea that Detroit is on the Canadian border. It is also the biggest city on the Canadian border. More news to me in that Detroit is a major port on the Detroit River and it connects the Great Lakes to the St. Lawrence seaway. Obviously geography is not one of my strong suits. I didn't know that Detroit was on a Great Lake. In my research, I learned that Detroit was founded by the French explored Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac. Thus, this is where the name Cadillac came from as one of the big car manufacturers.

Regardless, I am Dancing, Dancing to Motown tunes and looking for Motown artists. Hopefully, in between all the dancing, I will learn something new at the conference.

As always, I love hearing from you. Be sure and email me [email protected].
