Long bridesmaid dresses are a classic bridal party statement of formality and tradition. But have no fear! These dresses aren't boring or shapeless-your ladies will look elegant and sophisticated, whether this is for an evening wedding in a hotel ballroom or a sunrise ceremony on the beach. These two dresses prove just how much impact creamy neutrals can have. Above, this gray gown features a pleated bateau neckline (super flattering!) and tailored bodice. Below, this pink nude dress has a soft and relaxed silhouette, ideal for a garden wedding.

There is still plenty of room for gown variety if you want to keep the length long. This pale lemon bridal party showcases four different neckline in the same hue, which is particularly handy if some bridesmaids require different shapewear or undergarments than others.

These two blush bridesmaid dresses show off two very different trends. Above, take floor-length modern with a metallic lace bodice. It's still traditional and lovely, but also has just a tiny smidgen of edge. Below, does Downton Abbey inspire you? This dress' details hint at a bit of Art Nouveau inspiration with its intricate lacy patterns and slightly blouson bodice.

The two streamlined and sleek dresses definitely reveal a sultrier side to long dresses. Channel a 21st century take on bombshell with gowns that show off your stunning shoulders! Above, this high-neck, floor-length gown would be especially fetching on athletic figures, whereas the one shoulder dress (below) would shine on hourglass body types (bustier frames should generally avoid high necks to balance out their proportions well).

With marsala being the color of the year, you should expect many long dresses to be available in varying wine shades of red and purple. Above, this fantastic retro inspired gown has a floral lace overlay in deep magenta. Below, this marsala hued, flutter-sleeved dress features an above-the knee-slit. And if you really, truly want a dose of "wow" for your bridal party-find a floor length gown in a classic ballgown silhouette but with a really impactful pattern. Exhibit A is this bright, large-scale floral pattern below (left).

Speaking of patterns, there's no reason why you shouldn't embrace prints for your floor-length bridesmaid dresses. Personally, I think this dress above should be at every single wedding. Ever. The sequin damask pattern sits atop a layer of nude lace and the slight trumpet silhouette with cutouts near the hem is so chic. If you want something sweet and romantic, find a light-colored floral print like this buttercup yellow dress below. Bridesmaids could find simple toppers and vintage stoles for after the event when the weather cools down.

Floral prints also look spectacular for beach and destination weddings. This strapless sweetheart dress (below) can be paired with a pair of wedges to easily navigate the sand and surf.

Whether for beach weddings or just more casual events, not all floor-length dresses have to be formal and structured. This creamy taupe dress above features an empire-waist lace bodice, which is extra flattering for apple-shaped women. And bridesmaids could easily hem this dress to just above the knee so they could enjoy its easy style all summer.

Unconventional brides might favor a casual bridal party in chic, but relaxed dresses. Above, navy looks spectacular in jersey with a pair of sandals and unfussy hair. Or go stylish in maxi with a loose dress that will be flattering and comfortable on any bridesmaid (even those who are pregnant).
