But with these easy updos up your sleeve, you can take your hair from office-appropriate to party-ready in a snap.

You can never go wrong with a sock bun. Whether you use a sock, or prefer to use a store-bought bun donut, always keep one of these miracle bun-makers in your bag to create a high-volume updo in a pinch - even if you have short hair.

2. The Chic Chignon

A chignon makes for a great office 'do, plus it's easy to edit for a night on the town. Add a bit of volume by lightly teasing the hair at your crown, and pull a few pieces around your face to create a sexy, tousled look.

3. The Upside Down Ponytail Bun

This one takes your everyday messy bun to a new level. Take a small section of hair out from the top portion of your bun, pull it up toward your crown and tuck the ends into the hair tie holding your bun. Or you can secure the ends with bobby pins. The looped hair on top will create a cool contrast to the original bun below it.
