9 Gross Beauty Problems and How to Fix Them

via

No beauty issue is considered TMI for Team MDC! In order to find solutions for YOU, we're clearly not ones to shy away from the embarrassing nature of common beauty problems. While we may not like to admit it, these things happen ... really! And whether it's because you're not doing something the right way or just because we're human, there's a fix to any dilemma. Here are a few GROSS ones that come with the beauty territory!

1. Dirty Lash Curler:

Rubber liner full of gunk? Lesser of the evils and an easy fix, but still totally gross and we've ALL been guilty of this at one point or another. Just grab your Garnier Clean+ Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes and wipe it clean. Disinfect it regularly to prevent any eye infections, and be sure to put it back before clamping down or you'll lose some lashes ... talk about weird!

2. Flaky Dandruff:

No, there's no snow on my shoulders! Scalp sensitivity, irritation and itching cause these flakes to fall, but if you swap out your shampoo for one that actively treats and soothes your scalp and hair, you'll be able to wear black again in no time. Try Kiehl's Scalp Purifying Anti-Dandruff shampoo.

3. Unwanted 'Stache:

Easily wipe away those whiskers with an at-home hair removal cream or seek the help of a professional for your waxing needs. While it may not be a comfortable experience, it's worth every second of pain! Calm any post-treatment redness by using Kiehl's Centella Recovery Skin Salve.

4. Yellowish Nails:

Nail polish overload? Darker shades can stain your nails over time and a quick detox challenge could do the trick and get you back on the road to recovery. If the golden hue persists, schedule an appointment with your derm to make sure it isn't due to a more severe cause like a fungal infection.

5. Cracked & Peeling Lips:

Hard to apply your favorite bold lipstick with this problem, isn't it? The culprit could be overexposure to sunlight, dehydration, winter windsor your bad beauty habit of picking at them or constantly licking your lips. Heal your pout with a vitamin-packed balm like The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Stick SPF 15.

6. Blackheads:

These pesky pore cloggersdon't stand a fighting chance against the right beauty routine. Getting rid of blackheads involves some elbow grease, but we know you're not one to bond with the blackhead. The trick is to exfoliate regularly so that you loosen up dirt and oil buildup from throughout the day and then apply a purifying mask to draw out those suckers! Try L'Oréal Paris Go 360 Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub and The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask.

7. The Angry Pimple:

The infamous angry pimple. It's red, swollen and painful to the touch, just waiting to rear its ugly (white) head. Plan an attack before it even has a chance to ruin your date night by drying it out with a pore-penetrating Benzoyl Peroxide treatment like La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo. Tempted to pick? Don't! Follow these tips on how to beat a breakout at ANY stage instead.

8. Razor Burn & Bumps:

First, try and prevent these bumps entirely by shaving the right way. Find the right razor for sensitive skin and be sure to gently exfoliate before shaving in order to slough away any dead skin and prevent ingrown hairs. If those burns and bumps still come back to haunt you, use a post-shave product with aloe to instantly soothe any irritation like Kiehl's Post Shave Repair Gel and make sure it's alcohol-free!

9. Peeling Skin Around Nose:

Seasonal sniffles giving you the dry, red nose look? Not pretty. This unpleasant side effect can easily be fixed with this Desitin and Aquaphor trick! If the rest of your face is feelin' flaky too, it's time to find the right dry skin remedy because your routine must change along with the seasons!
