Coral Peonies & Afternoon Tea Wedding

Coral Peonies & Afternoon Tea Wedding

via

Ohh the flowers. Peonies are the best and there was an abundance of these fluffy coral beauties at Matthew and Victoria's wedding which was held on Saturday 24 th May 2014 at Childerley Hall, Cambridgeshire.

Teamed with pretty bridesmaids in Topshop coral dresses, a scrumptious afternoon tea and a lot of smiles; well you have one super wonderful wedding day.

Victoria was beautiful in lace and Matthew was looking dashing in a suit by Cad & the Dandy. So much style.

Thanks so very much to Dale Weeks for sharing his amazing photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | Christmas Day morning, in our grade 2 listed cottage in front of the inglenook fireplace our little boy and hundreds of presents, Matt fell to his knee.....

THE VISION | A relaxed afternoon tea party with all our favourite people and a mash up of all the things we love!!! The colour coral, Prosecco in tea cups, a rock band and sweets in a beautiful old barn..... our aim was to keep everything as local as possible.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Adhoc and impulsive.

THE VENUE | Childerley Hall, Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire, CB23 8BA

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Vintage lace.

FINDING THE DRESS | The first one that I tried on in Stamford bridal rooms. My Mum and best friend were there for guidance. I knew it was the one just had to work out how to afford it!!! Tea and scones at the George I decided........... there was no other dress that would do.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | A bespoke navy wool suit by Cad & the Dandy (Saville Row) with a bespoke pale pink shirt. Tan brogues from Barkers. Woven tie from Thomas Pink.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Our Niece Maddie singing Eta James "At last". Appropriate as we have been together for 10 years and the last of our friends to marry.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Wearing Top Shop dresses in Nude Duchess Satin. We wanted the wedding to be contemporary with a vintage twist.

THE FLOWERS | I wanted the flowers to be the main focus, like big balls of colour. We chose my favourites, Coral Miss Piggie Roses and Sunset Pink Peonies the colours to clash but compliment the nude of the bridesmaids with coral neon ribbon..... The ribbon I sourced in a Hong Kong market.

THE CAKE | A cheese tower! Our favourite, we were having sticky toffee pudding for dessert and so thought cheese was a great option. After a tasting afternoon at the Cheese Shop in Stamford we had a selection of local British cheeses.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Dale Weeks, we chose Dale following a recommendation and we loved his alternative photography. We wanted his creative input and a reportage style. He is so likeable and we never knew he was there.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Coral spot Bunting, with Coral neon ribbon made locally in Needingworth by Mrs Bunting, vintage tea cups found in junk shops and auctions, hay bales, pink and white strip sweet bags, sweet themed tables in pastel shades, Shrimps, White Mice, Strawberry Bon bons, chalk boards (make do and mend!!).

THE HONEYMOON | A mini moon to Sardinia in May to relax and a road to trip to California in January with our 2 year old Son James.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The night before pregnant Alison negotiating to swap dresses with Emily. The heavy rain and the walking to the church with our umbrellas!!! Myriam arriving after the bride and running in as the organist played, Matt thought Miriam was me, Maddie's beautiful singing in the church "at last", Stopping the bus on route to the venue from the church to buy James a drink, our entrance to "I've got a feeling", the sweet trading between the tables, Uncle Andy falling over on the dance floor and being rescued by a drunk heart surgeon! Steve Cockle trying to taxi his drunk wife off in the Ice Cream van. Matt's rendition of "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon without the band.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Don't try and do too much before the wedding! We had a house project, 3 long haul work trips for the bride in the 3 months before the wedding..... Start the wedding as early as you can and finish as late as you can to make the most of your day.
