Houndstooth and Plaid Wedding Decor

Houndstooth and Plaid Wedding Decor

Black and white wedding planning feeling a little bit blah? Find a little pizazz in some of our favorite patterns: houndstooth, plaid, and chevron. The best part about these patterns is that you can even mix and match (in small doses, of course). By selecting a pattern, you will unify your palette, giving it texture and visual interest.

Another fun technique when planning with patterns is using different scales of the same patterns. From the zoomed-in version of houndstooth on a guest's welcome bag (above, left), to teeny tiny cake bunting (above, right), chicness comes in all sizes. And your friends will never look quite so "uptown" as they will in in paper top hats and chevron ties.

I've seen houndstooth bridesmaid dress (and adored them), but that bold of a look isn't for every bride. If you love pattern, but want a subtle touch, inject tiny dashes with jaunty bow ties or fabric stud earrings to set off against a bridesmaid's LBD.

So what if you love color too much to go for a solely black and white wedding? Patterns and color are not mutually exclusive. Mix navy pinstripes with madras plaid (below, left) or decorate chocolate kisses with blue chevrons (below, right) to bring some festive accents to the party!
