Even though I'm more of a pastel kinda girl, I regularly crave a dose of bright, bright colours and todays Cala Codolar beach wedding in Ibiza has enough sunshine to see me through to this summer! After a sweet proposal in the Big Apple, Natasha and Andrew knew that a traditional wedding at home wasn't going to cut it and so they went against the grain in search of somewhere a little more "them". Gorgeous ladies in fuchsia pink dresses by Twobirds and group of handsome lads donning perfectly tailored navy suits certainly upped it in the style stakes but no one could outshine the gorgeous Natasha and her dapper groom who were as radiant as the sun on their wedding day. Capturing all the warmth was Helen Cawte, a first timer here on Fly Away Bride and if we have anything to do with it, it won't be her last!
From the Bride; "Every little girl dreams of a fairytale wedding and pretty much has an idea of their dream wedding mapped out but not in my case, I hadn't a clue. The only thing I knew was that I wanted the sun to shine. After my partner got down on one knee in Central Park, New York I knew I had some decisions to make. I quickly realised that I did not want a traditional wedding in a Manor House or Hotel, especially given that my husband and I never do anything by the book. I also decided that I didn't want the "wedding package" that you often offered when getting married abroad. I still wanted to have the same options as you would in the UK i.e. picking the flowers, venue, photographer etc. We initially considered Thailand but quickly realised that having our family there was most important and that Thailand was just too far for some people to travel. We also considered the Amalfi Coast & Lake Garda in Italy but we quickly established that as beautiful as they were, they didn't suit our personalities. After lots of consideration, Ibiza was the place that felt right for us. It would allow us to have our wedding in the sun and only being two hours from home it was an affordable option for friends and family on all sorts of budgets. It would also allow our friends to go off and party I discussed this with my parents and they thought we were crazy for more reasons than one! Regardless of their thoughts, I started my research and we booked four flights to Ibiza. We hired a car and drove around the Island on our first trip. My parents were pretty impressed with what they saw and quickly came around to the idea. We visited so many venues and explored the option of hosting our wedding at a villa and other venues that catered for weddings and lastly, we met up with a lady called Vickki from Eat Ibiza. She informed me that she had just bought a hill top restaurant that she was planning on renovating into a new wedding venue. Even though it wasn't ready, she told us that we were more than welcome to look at the restaurant, especially if we thought we could see past the decor and renovation issues. We jumped at the chance and wow was it worth it. The view was spectacular and we instantly fell in love. We immediately put out trust in Vickki and without any doubt in our minds, we decided that Elixir was going to be our wedding venue. Through Vickki and our own thorough research on the internet, the rest fell into place. We decided to pursue the long & lengthy process that would allow us to get married in a beautiful white washed church in the village on San Augustine. We instantly knew that we were doing the right thing and that this would be our ultimate dream wedding. Vickki was amazing and helped us out in such a huge way. She pointed us in the direction of our amazing photographer, Helen Cawte who I got in touch with and instantly put my trust in. My partner and I knew that she was the right lady for the job and after getting married in Ibiza herself, it was nice to be able to share our excitement for our love of Ibiza. We also loved her work and enthusiasm and it just felt like one thing less to worry about. My colour inspiration didn't come easy and I was torn between going vintage or bright & bold. My husband decided he wanted navy suits so I decided to compliment this with raspberry, a colour I also knew my bridesmaids would be happy in. There are lots of fuchsia trees in Ibiza, a similar colour to the shade I picked so it just seemed right. The bridesmaid dresses could be worn in 15 different styles and came in one size and were perfect as they offered lots of flexibility. I always knew I wanted a fishtail lace wedding dress and fell in love with the Intuzuri Allegra dress the minute I saw it. The backless detail made it seem all the more suitable for a wedding abroad. I went all over the North West looking for the perfect dress and was starting to worry that what I wanted wasn't out there. I even picked my Jimmy Choos before my dress ! The food from Eat Ibiza was simply out of this world. We opted for the BBQ menu but when I say BBQ, it was lovely fresh steak and meats, freshly caught fish and a selection of salads and sides. Every guest commented on the food and how lovely it was. We definitely made the right decision opting for a very causal, laid back menu and everybody felt at ease. Our guests also took advantage of the free bar that ran throughout the whole of the day. We booked "The Lovely Laura", the resident Hed Kandi saxophonist, to play with the DJ, Ben Santiago at our evening reception. She was amazing and really took our guests by surprise. In our eyes our day was perfect, we loved every minute of it!"
