Peach and Tiffany Blue ✈ Wedding in Santorini, Greece

via

We are whisking you off to Greece today for a bright and cheerful, peach and blue wedding in Santorini. Santorini gets me every single time. I am always so amazed by it's beauty and the views out onto the ocean that every time we feature a wedding there, I have to separately google the location to see more.. like I need proof it's a real place in the world! Of course, everything captured by Chris Spira is out of this world. I'm not kidding. When you are done swooning over our bride Regina's beautiful wedding dress and those ah-mazing one shoulder bridesmaid dresses, then check out this other fab wedding in Germany that Chris shot a while back. It also won't disappoint. But back to those beautiful dresses....

"Jay and I met in Shanghai in 2006. It was Jay's first week from the US and I have also just been there for 6 months. We met at a party and Jay was trying to talk to my friend on behalf of his shy friend. She introduced me to him and he was flabbergasted that I was from Malaysia. His parents were from there but he had never met anyone else who are Malaysians outside his family. We kept in touch as friends and it wasn't long before romance started to blossom. We officially got together in 2008. We got engaged in 2011 when Jay brought me to a nice Japanese restaurant on Christmas eve. I was so surprised because the place is always fully booked. When we got there, I realised the venue looked familiar. It then dawned on me that it was a restaurant where we had our first date, except back then, it was a Greek restaurant. We were the last to leave the restaurant and when I stood up, I realised that there were rose petals all over the floor of the restaurant, leading up to the entrance. When I stepped out of the front door, the flowers were even laid out onto the street. That's when Jay got down on one knee and proposed. For the wedding, we wanted a destination that was by the sea and where our families and friends would have to travel the same amount of time. We were toying around with several options and Santorini seemed the most sound idea. It wasn't too difficult to organise everything as we had a lot of input and suggestions from friends all over. What's more, when we realised our first date was in a Greek restaurant, Santorini in Greece was the apparent winner. For our colour scheme, we wanted peach with a little tiffany blue. We also wanted to keep it simple because at the end of the day, the backdrop of the Aegean sea view was enough to set the tone. Both of us had the same favourite moment. It was when I walked down the aisle towards Jay while our family and friends smiled on lovingly and with so much encouragement. It was the very moment when we knew that "this is it!" That was a wonderful, joyous feeling that we will cherish forever. Because of our heritage, we wanted to bring in some Chinese cultural element into the wedding so we had a tea ceremony. This involved serving tea to our elders while the younger, non-married family members served us tea. This was done in exchange of red packets/ "hong bao" containing cash or rather 'good fortune'. Most of our friends and family extended the trip and many flew off to Athens. Some of us even travelled to Istanbul after the wedding. Advice that we would share with other couples getting married abroad is that firstly, little tiny things don't matter during the day so don't sweat the small stuff, just have fun. Also, invest in a good photographer and videographer! It is worth it but do remember to provide them with a brief on what you really want captured during the wedding."
