Michele and John were introduced to each other at a backyard birthday party by a mutual friend all the way back in 2003. After a few failed proposal attempts, John finally popped the question on the morning of May 14, 2011, with an extra special breakfast. "He hand-cut the letters out of pancakes, fruit, Jello and also used Alphabet cereal to spell out the message: 'Michele Will You Marry Me?'" she explains. "He even included heart shaped eggs and pancakes. I immediately screamed and burst into tears as he got down on one knee to propose."

A year later, the couple exchanged vows at St. Patrick's Parish Church in Burlington, Ontario. They held their reception at the stunning Eglinton Grand, where their cinema-inspired wedding came together with the venue rolling out the red carpet (literally), and customizing their marquee signage to read "Until There Was You" - the "title" of their big day.

Although their reception was undoubtedly beautiful and memorable, one of Michele's favourite moments of the day happened during the ceremony. "Before our wedding, our priest asked us each to write a personal letter to each other explaining why we want to marry the other person," Michele shares. "We provided our letters to the priest in advance of our wedding day but did not share the letters with each other. During the ceremony, the priest read excerpts from each letter in front of us and our guests. It was such a touching moment hearing our pledges of love, joy and admiration to one another in our own words."
