DIY North Carolina Mountainside Wedding: Amanda + Tim

Amanda + Tim have one of the coolest venue stories we've heard! With the help of their incredible family, they were able to purchase a gorgeous, sprawling North Carolina mountainside home that was in foreclosure and completely renovate + transform it into the perfect place to host their wedding! In the midst of one of the rainiest years on record for western North Carolina, friends + family worked around the clock to make the property just right for the big day. And while most of us could only dream of being so lucky, it's what Amanda + Tim did to decorate that space that's the best yet! They collected and found everything that was used in the wedding, including milk glass vases for the flowers, vintage plates, linens, decorations, lights, magnolia leaves + more! Here's more from Amanda about being a DIY bride:

We wanted to save money by making as much as we could, or finding and buying it for cheaper, even if that meant standing knee deep in ivy looking for leaves, sifting through garage sales, attics, basements, or thrift stores. We joked that if we couldn't make something work, then we would spray paint it gold and it would fit. Tim, our planner Addie, and I made every inch of garland, wreaths, our "Oh Happy Day" banner and the backdrop frame for our ceremony. Another big inspiration piece for us was garden lights. We loved how they give a soft glow or twinkle and make everything really pretty, so, we decided to put them everywhere so that everything would have a magical fairyland vibe.

Sounds like so much love was put into every aspect of the day! Thanks so much to Redfield Photography for the gorgeous images + big congrats to Amanda + Tim!

We totally adore the 'maids J.Crew dresses + their pretty, fall-inspired bouquets by Floressence Flowers!

More from Amanda, Because of all the rain and the fact that the ceremony site was basically on a bog, we couldn't have chairs because of the risk that they would sink right into the soft ground so my dad designed and built all 44 benches for the ceremony seating.

Can you even believe they scored a house AND a wedding venue at the same time? It's just beautiful!
