Love is Love: A Bed-in for Marriage Equality

Love is Love: A Bed-in for Marriage Equality

With V-day fast approaching, we have LOVE on the brain. And at GWS we believe true love doesn't care about race, sex, or status. Love is love. And love is really all you need, right?!

We're pretty crazy about this creative + uplifting styled shoot, conceptualized by 2Tarts Bakery and photographed beautifully by Reg Campbell. Staged in a retro, bright white Texas studio, the shoot visually depicts a "bed-in" for marriage equality to put the spotlight on a new era of love: same love! Now I'm sure you're wondering, what's a bed-in?! Since I wasn't familiar with this (but just LOVE this story!), I'll let the talented team behind this session tell you all about it:

In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono were married and spent their infamous honeymoon tucked in bed for a week in Amsterdam, and then again for a week in Montreal, in a non-violent protest against the Vietnam War. Their "Bed-in for Peace" and multi-ethnic love was our inspiration, but we chose a relevant "war" (Marriage Equality) and a modern couple (same-sex) to recreate this historical event! The theme here is LOVE. As Lennon sings, "Love is you, you and me, love is knowing we can be." Love is love - in all shapes and forms, all shades and sizes. Let's give love a chance. We imagine "Jane and Yoko," celebrating their wedding day IN bed and with a scrumptious breakfast spread, of course! They wake up together, savoring a few moments alone, to enjoy a private, low-key brunch at a table for two. Floor cushions keep things cozy and relaxed, hot coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice are served, and a buffet of both sweet and savory mini breakfast treats awaits them. Their beautiful daughter and diverse group of friends join them for a simple Bed Love union ceremony (never leaving the bed!), and then a little sing-a-long, dance party!

A flavor of the 1960′s is present throughout the fashion + decor, but all with a modern, updated twist. I love the minimalist, statement floral installations + stark color palette of red, gold, white, and black. Lovely inspiration that can totally translate to any celebratory event!

How incredible is this six foot peace sign made up of hundreds of white daisies?!

Thank you so much to all the creatives below who put so much of themselves and their talents into this inspirational shoot! I think we can all agree, LOVE is a beautiful thing!
