I love a good photo booth. My parents surprised us with one at our own wedding reception and, after almost two years of working for Love My Dress, I can assure you no industry event is complete without the obligatory alcohol-fuelled session in one!

Mark Angus is a designer-maker who runs a unique luxury photo booth service for weddings and events called Foto Noir.

'Two and a half years ago, I visited a music shop and had my photo taken in a traditional photo booth. I realised that taking your own picture could feel less intrusive than a photographer with a lens in your face. I began to reimagine the retro photo booth idea for elegant wedding events. It took about 18 months to get the design concept right. I was lucky enough to get my first big wedding at the Savoy Hotel.'

Foto Noir is an open photo booth which encourages guest participation. Designed to take amazing, flattering black and white photos of your friends and family, the wooden booth has a sleek, understated look which blends into most event decor.

'I find the booth works best in the main reception area, even if it's placed at the back of the venue. I find guests are encouraged to get their picture taken after seeing other people do it. It also provides an extra form of entertainment.' 'I don't normally provide props as part of the experience, which means you're free to source your own and really personalise the experience for your guests. Having said that, I believe the best photos come when guests are beautifully dressed and enjoying themselves while taking their own picture, rather than hiding behind a wig, mask or giant sunglasses.'

'The lack of a preview/touch screen was intentional and gives the user the traditional photo booth experience of not knowing what their image will look like until the print is presented. This builds up excitement and anticipation.'

'All prints are presented on freestanding photo boards. The photo boards allow everyone to view the photos before they are collected. In a digital world of smart phone cameras and tablets, physical prints have become even more special. Your guests will love it!'

You have the opportunity to receive copies of all the photographs taken via the booth, but Mark also offers an optional printed book with fabulous image quality.

'The high quality of the images and user experience puts the luxury into Foto Noir, as well as its open design and the fact it was built from scratch like a piece of traditional furniture. At the moment there is only one booth in existence.' 'Foto Noir allows you to create a visual record of your event from an alternative perspective as it unfolds. It does not replace the photographer, but allows him/her to focus on finding beautiful moments rather than trying to get everyone's picture.'

Prices start at £595 for 3 hours coverage during the week (inclusive of VAT) for bookings within central London. Mark is happy to consider travelling as long as expenses are covered. For more information head over to www.fotonoir.co.uk.

Much love,

Franky
