Wedding: Shea & William Wright

Church bells are ringing as there is love in the air. Shea Oliver and William Wright were the winners of our Facebook contest that offered one lucky winner with free event planning services. The contest was very simple; tell us about an event that you would like to have planned for FREE. We read through all the entries and picked at random one lucky winner. Here is what Shea’s entry had to say. “Looking forward to my September 21, 2013 wedding to my future hubby William A Wright II with the theme modern/vintage! We have a modern ceremony planned at a local church in DC with updated religious music, preparing our own vows, and light but modern decor. Our reception is ALL THE WAY down in Woodbridge on the waterfront in Occoquan, Va on a golf curse with a 1950s vintage feel for 80 guests complete with small plates, more decor and lots of details. The maids are wearing modern one shoulder knee length bridesmaid dresses and the guys are taking a step back into time w/ custom made bowties and vests. My ceremony gown is truly modern, while my reception dress is modern w/ a vintage design. A true challenge for any planner is incorporating aspects of both during the ceremony and reception. I would love some help blending the themes.” Here is the experience from the new Mr. & Mrs. Wright:  It’s hard to believe that our big day has come and gone! It’s been a month now since Will and I shared our vows before God, our family and friends. Our wedding day was a day full of emotions, nervousness, excitement, happiness, laughter, and tons of cheers! On Saturday, September 21st, a cloudy and cool day for September, two families became one. As the bride, my day started early at 6AM and didn’t end until 2AM. In preparation for the ceremony my hotel room was a rush of excitement and girlish laughter. It felt surreal. Some of the highlights were: my mom putting on my pearl necklace, stepping into my gown for the first time after the final alteration, hopping into the limo, and giving my friends and family in the limo a guided and hilarious tour of DC! But by the last brush stroke of my makeup and my bridesmaids helping me into my gown and assisting with my headpiece, an unexpected calm fell upon me. Throughout my wedding experience I was unusually calm. Even walking down the aisle, all I could do was smile. Maybe it’s because when you marry your best friend and you take the pressure off yourself and let things go, you finally get to sit back and just enjoy it all! All of our hard work putting together this day paid off in the end. Equally, the ceremony and reception were my favorite parts of the whole experience. Will and I shared heartfelt vows from our favorite love songs and made a memorable exit to our awaiting limo! We took pictures at the reception location and got in a few photographs before the rain fell. The few moments Will and I stood together alone waiting to be announced for the first time as husband and wife was the first time we finally got a chance to take in the moment. We were married. We were hungry and most importantly, we were happy! We had two receptions that day. A formal reception for family and a second more laid back on for our friends. But as the day turned to night and we said our goodbyes, all thoughts went to just getting a good night’s sleep! Will and I had shared of the best days of our lives. It was truly magical.  My husband sums it up the best, “Even though our wedding day was one of the most anxious days of our lives, I knew I was marrying my best friend and everything was going to be just (W)right.”  Thanks, The Wrights
