Un Air de Bonheur ✈ Coco Chanel Inspiration Shoot Part 1

It’s a great day today! We have been months and months waiting to feature one of our shoots from Paris but with busy schedules and a feature on One Fab Day last week, we had to learn a thing or two about patience and hold back until now. For those of you that don’t know, last January, Amy and I travelled to Paris with our good pals Christina from Brosnan Photographic and Rodolphe from Best Day Productions to produce two styled shoots. After a very early start, a short plane trip and possibly the most memorable car journey of all time, we finally arrived in a little French town called Neauphle-le-Château. There we met with our very own Roisin who had her handsome William in tow, the lovely Mari Emilie from Mon Plus Beau Jour who had been helping us with all of the details and logistics that come with styling a shoot abroad and last but certainly not least, the talented Lexi de Rock, our amazing hair and make up artist for the next three days. Inspired by the 2009 movie, Coco Avant Chanel, our first shoot is titled Un Air de Bonhuer (which translates to “A Day of Happiness”) and is really our  interpretation of the wedding day that Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel and Arthur “Boy” Capel never had. What can we say, we wish there had been a happier ending, so we created our own.

The shoot took place in the magnificent Villa Blanche and the moment we arrived, we were all bowled over by it’s grandeur. The house slept 14 people and it really struck us as a beautiful venue for a small destination wedding, one where the focus is on bringing close family together in a very relaxed but comfortable setting. The main dining room was big with jet black walls and next to it was an all white room with big most lush white sofas and a warm fireplace. On the first night, we all relaxed in the cinema (yes, cinema) and drank champagne.

We were so lucky to once again have Pamela from Farrell and Chase on board. She created all of the paper goods couldn’t have done a better job. Influence by the Chanel No 5 bottle, the stationary suite was simple and sophisticated with no fuss or frills, absolutely perfect for what we were trying to achieve.

MariEmilie from Mon Plus Beau Jour was just a real dream to work with an incredibly professional. We were so thrilled when she managed to find Ataturk, a horse from a local stable who seemed pretty pleased to be part of the shoot!

At the beginning of the planning process when we were trying to find our models, we couldn’t quite shake the fact that our gorgeous Friday contributor, Roisin had a striking resemblance to Audrey Tautou. We were determined and after much begging, pleading and perhaps a small bit of bullying, Roisin not only agreed to play the part, she also convinced her handsome real life boyfriend William to come along too! Needless to say, we were thrilled and as you can see for yourself, they are one amazing looking duo! And Rosin… you look SO French!

The bouquet was another one of my favourite details and featured anemones, Juliet Roses, Ranunculus and of course Camellia, Chanel’s favourite flower.

We really wanted to keep the Chanel bridal look incredibly chic, very simple but elegant and feminine. When we laid eyes on the beautiful Belle and Bunty Petal Dress, we knew it was the one. The silhouette was very simple and the bow detail at the back was a little bit of a sign for us! Lexi kept the hair and make up look natural but slick and we with Chanel in mind, we figured less was more and opted not to accessorise with a veil or anything too fussy, just a simple pair of pearl earrings and a Chanel chain.

Amy is back tomorrow with Part 2 of the shoot where we will be introducing you to rest of the FAB vendors who helped bring our Coco shoot to life!
