Vibrant Coral Pink and Gold Peony Wedding + Glitter Deets!

Julie-Anne and Dan's vibrant coral pink and gold peony wedding combined classic style with whimsical and fun elements. Because most of their loved ones were traveling from out of town, their Memorial Day weekend wedding turned into destination wedding for their guests!

The couple included many Austin/Texas themed touches to make the experience fun for their guests. This included coaster favors painted by local artists and sourced from an Austin art gallery, Texas themed tables, as well as Texan eats and snacks! We just love this couple and the way that these pictures from Cory Ryan tell the tale of a day of happiness!

Of course we're obsessed with the gorgeous pink peonys by Bouquets of Austin and touches of gold throughout, planned by Jennifer Seals, Pearl Events. This reception is uh.may.zing!!

"The bridal bouquet was wrapped in lace from Julie-Anne's mother's wedding gown, a sweet homage to her family," shares Cory Ryan Photography. "After a morning wedding at St Louis King of France everyone headed out to Dripping Springs for an incredible party at the beautiful Canyonwood Ridge wedding venue. The reception tables of their coral pink and gold peony wedding were decked out with gorgeous bright blooms and menus by The Inviting Pear, all set atop glittery gold-trimmed chargers."

PLUS they ended the night with a massive dance party, complete with glow stick send off!! So awesome!

I wanted my bouquets and all my flowers to be bright and cheerful. I think weddings are a fun and happy occasion, and I wanted my flowers to reflect that!

For most guests, this was a "destination" wedding, meaning most of our guests traveled. We added in a little bit of an Austin, Texas theme throughout our invitations, welcome bags at the hotel, personalized napkins, and our favor/seating chart using coasters with local art and pictures on them. The passed appetizers were "themed" with our different states and the main meal had a little bit of both as well. Dessert and the late night snack were all Texas too.

Dan and I met at The University of Dayton in Ohio. I tried to ignore my feelings for a few months, knowing that if we dated it would eventually lead to long distance, but I couldn't resist his charm. We did end up having to do long distance for 3 years at 3 different distances. In summer of 2013, we both moved to Austin and were finally able to be near each other. Dan planned a personal and romantic proposal at his apartment. He surprised me after work with lots of candles, one of "our" songs on repeat ("Thinking out Loud" by Ed Sheeran), flowers, champagne, and cheese. One of my favorite lines in his proposal speech was, "Every engagement has flowers and wine, but ours had to have cheese." I love cheese! We celebrated together that night and with friends the next day. We had a traditional Catholic Wedding Mass. I walked into Trumpet Voluntary. Part of our mass included a prayer to Mary by offering her flowers. We wrote a prayer together and prayed it together- that was one of my favorite parts of our ceremony. Since we did not get to write our own vows, the prayer was our chance to ask Mary to prayer for all of the things we want out of our marriage. One of my mother and I's favorite songs, "The Prayer", was sung as our parents brought the gifts to the altar. It was a very touching moment.

The venue was so gorgeous, we didn't really need to do too much to dress it up. We used their indoor chapel for the cocktail hour, and set up a cool bar there as well as a few tables and a lounge area. We also had some rocking chairs outside in their outdoor ceremony site.

I wanted my flowers to add a whimsical touch to the room. I knew I wanted coral peonies, and I allowed the florist to work their magic with the rest. They blew me away! I loved my flowers so much.

You picked your vendors for a reason. They do this all the time and have great ideas and advice. When I was flexible on certain things and let the vendor give their input, it turned out better than I expected! Click To Tweet

We did wedding "mad libs" for our guestbook. Guests could fill out a few adjectives and then write a note or a well wish for the couple. (TIP: Grab our free " NEWLYWED TIP JAR " guestbook printable for advice from your own guests, too!)

Our seating chart was probably the most complicated part of planning our wedding. I knew I wanted to have the painted art coasters as a favor, but also a way for the guest to find their table. It took us awhile to figure out how to display them, and once that was figured out, it was pretty easy to set up! We tied their name on coaster, and had a picture on each table which matched the picture on the coaster. It was a great favor and a way to remember their trip to Austin.

We had our parents first dances as soon as we walked in and then we had speeches/ate. After dinner, Dan and I had our first dance- to "The Best Thing" by Ray LaMontage. I liked the symbolism of having the moment with our parents, taking a break to enjoy the company of others, and then starting our "journey" together on the dance floor. The dance floor opened right after that and we just kept dancing! Our band did a fantastic job keeping everyone on the dance floor. We also had an end of the night song that was just the two of us with our guests throwing confetti. That was "What a Difference a Day Makes" and represented what an amazing day we were wrapping up.

"The super talented Dallas wedding band The Jam Wows, combined with Ilios Lighting, made for some fun and colorful dance floor photos that I love!" shares Cory Ryan photography. "Near the end of the dancing, the band performed 'What A Difference A Day Makes' as confetti floated around the couple's heads and the guests all formed a large circle around them! After the final dance, the newlyweds exited to a sea of rainbow glow sticks!"
