Colorful Emoticon Filled Wedding: Aimee + Drew

Colorful Emoticon Filled Wedding: Aimee + Drew

via

*Heart emojis galore*, we're madly in love with this wedding! Photographed by Steve Cowell Photo and held at the Smog Shoppe in Los Angeles, CA - this couple definitely changed the game and played by their own rules. Drew and Aimee met on Tinder and started a modern day epistolary romance - via text messages and emojis. Because of the unique circumstance of how they met, they wanted to incorporate that into their wedding day! Teaming up with Carly Rae Design, she helped them turn their modern day love story into a truly memorable event.

The bride + groom share We wanted our wedding to feel like we threw it in our own backyard. The color palette - mint, blue, coral to red orange, and gold accents - are the same colors that decorate our home. We bonded over our love for tacos, burgers, and ice cream, so that's what we served, including Carmela Ice Cream, where we had our first date and got engaged! And as the beginning of our relationship was filled with emojis, we really wanted to incorporate that... Aimee made little pins that served as table decor and gifts for guests, and the groomsmen ended up wearing them throughout the wedding!

Ready to see all the fun?!

We're LOVING these super cool floral print wedges by Michael Kors!!

Simple + minimalistic, this succulent wall is oh so lovely.

How gorgeous is that pop of color with florals by Primary Petals? Oh and we're totally crushing on the bride's outfit, which is a corset paired with a flowing skirt from BHLDN.

Keeping it cool, he wore *rad* kicks, too. These bad boys are by Calvin Klein.

That pretty hair piece is from BHLDN!

They are THE COOLEST!

Processional: Going to California by Led Zeppelin + We Will Become Silhouettes by the Postal Service

Recessional: I'm a Cuckoo by Belle & Sebastian

First Dance: Latch by Disclosure/Sam Smith

Aimee: Drew is a movie trailer editor, so he wanted to edit a short movie for the reception. Though he wanted to surprise me with it, I made him show me a few days before so I didn't sob right before our first dance; and that ended up being a wise decision! He picked pieces of our favorite love stories and then wove our home movies into them. To hear our loved ones hoot, holler, and aww while I was filled with the most love ever was just the most amazing moment ever.

Drew: Our friend Jon officiated with such a heartfelt and moving ceremony comprised of anecdotes and personal details about our relationship. He nailed the religious elements and had everyone laughing! Aimee + I looked at all of our favorite people all in one place, and it's something I'll never forget.

The darling little emoji pins are such a fun addition to the table!

They truly made the day uniquely their own and added their own creative spin to things! The couple shares, The wedding will be the best day ever because you're marrying the person you're meant to be with. So put effort into making it the best you can, but remember it'll be amazing no matter what. Also, don't be afraid to nix traditions that don't mean something to you and add ones that do (for example, Aimee and her mom also did a mother-daughter dance together to the Gilmore Girls theme song).

Going back to when they first started dating, the couple printed out and framed some of their earlier messages, placing them throughout the venue for guests to read.

Seriously sweet. We love seeing these snapshots into who they are as a couple!

Stick together and try to remain on the same page. There are so many choices to make during the planning process, so we found it incredibly important to remind ourselves there isn't ONE perfect choice. Knowing that you made these decisions as a team, really unites you as a couple. We looked at the planning process as part of the wedding; each milestone brought us closer to being 100% married. We'd joke we were 35% married once we locked down our caterer, 75% married once we nailed down the table assignments, etc., but it's really true. We feel that planning it all together helped us earn our titles as husband and wife.

Major *heart eyes* for these two, congrats Aimee + Drew!
