The Bride Diaries. Beth's Ceremony Venue & Wedding Show Visits -...

WWW real bride Beth only went and booked her ceremony venue before she had looked around... So she popped over there to make sure she loved it. The space looks utterly divine. Plus she has been enjoying herself at one of the largest wedding shows in Ireland, it looked a lot of fun indeed xo Lou

What kind of people book their wedding venue before seeing it? You could say wonderfully fanciful characters who love to throw caution to the wind or you might say the very naive.

Regardless of what category we fall into, that is exactly what we did. After getting engaged in January we primitively set the date for November 2016 and under the impression we were having quite a long engagement I took my time to research. However, when we booked a trip to Liverpool to preliminary view venues in April we weren't so much lapping up early discounts for our winter wedding but hearing, 'hmmm, have you considered 2017?'

When the only Saturday in 2016 came available in our dream reception venue we snapped it up faster than you could say, 'where do we sign?' leaving us with the slight problem of nowhere to hold our ceremony.

It quickly became apparent that this was going to be a problem, neither of us are affiliated with a church in Liverpool and most of the approved venues in the city centre were either unavailable or unwilling to hold only a ceremony on a Saturday.

When I was at the point of tearing my hair out, my very kind in-laws-to-be stepped in and went to see the Royal Liver Building, which we then booked after seeing only two photos! Now I'm not going to lie, I was feeling pretty apprehensive, being a relatively new venue it's almost impossible to find photos of the inside online but when we finally did get to see it three months later, we loved it!

Here's the room where we'll be getting married, the all-white interior is very clean looking and will allow us to decorate it how we wish. I had originally wanted a candle filled aisle but since naked flames in a listed building are a no-no I'm going for fairy lights in glass vases with electric candles.

What really made the venue special for us was the option to have champagne and canapés afterwards in the historic boardroom, the only room in the building to have kept its original décor. Obviously space is of the essence, so we have the option to remove the table and/or the chairs. Decisions, decisions!

Afterwards we couldn't resist popping across the road to try lunch at our reception venue Oh Me Oh My, which is a stylish café during the week. We even managed to sneak onto the rooftop bar which provides stunning panoramic views of the Liverpool skyline including the Liver Building!

In other wedding news, I have spent the past month attending bridal fairs including the huge Wedding Journal Show, where I watched the catwalk from the comfort of the V.I.P lounge and saw some of the most gorgeous tulle skirts. Something tells me I'll be giving this bridal shop a visit soon...
