Barcelona Honeymoon Session with En Route Photography | Fly Away Bride

via

After getting married in Sydney, Trish and Chris departed on a round the world trip. They started in Peru before eventually ending up in London, spending time in Spain, France, Italy and Greece. Being an architect, Trish had always wanted to visit Barcelona and after booking Gabby from En Route, it seemed the perfect setting for their honeymoon session! More details below from Trish on their wedding and honeymoon, but first we'll take a trip to this most vibrant and colourful of Spanish cities.

THE WEDDING

"We got married on the 17th May this year in Sydney, at a Greek Orthodox ceremony with 140 friends and family, many of whom travelled from out of state and overseas. My twin brother did the role of Kobara and the crowning at the church which was very special to me. The wedding palette was black, white and orange and my flowers were vibrant orange carnations- I didn't want to go with the usual roses, plus I prefer the way they all bunch together and look like clouds. With Chris being South American and me being Greek, the dance floor was never empty- it was a fabulous party and celebration."

HONEYMOON SESSION ABROAD

"I always wanted to get married overseas but we had so many relatives who are not able to fly and we did not want to leave them out, so instead of having an engagement photo shoot we had a honeymoon one.. just an excuse to wear my dress again! I am an architect so Barcelona has always been a fantasy of mine: the colours, the tiles and the atmosphere. I found Gabby and loved her photography instantly so booked her a year in advance as I was so excited. I decided to cut my hair short the week after the wedding, something I had wanted to do for a long time but I knew I wanted my hair up for the Sydney up style, and have vibrant make up as Sydney was more traditional, I also wore different peach shoes instead of my orange snakeskin shoes I wore in Sydney.

After the wedding in Sydney, we travelled first to Peru to visit family and had a Church blessing there, for which I wore a short simple white dress. After Peru we flew to Spain, drove from Barcelona to Paris via San Sebastian, then flew to Rome and enjoyed the Amalfi Coast before cruising through the Greek islands. We finished the honeymoon in London (all I might add while the World Cup was on, which was perfect timing for us since in Sydney the games are normally on from 2-4 am). Nine weeks after we left we were back to the daily grind and loving it- the experiences, memories and of course our fabulous tans! We were so glad we took a chance asking our bosses for the time off- we had the trip of a lifetime, experienced so many cultures and just enjoyed the journey after such a long time of planning (1.5 years- time which we also needed to save for the honeymoon!)"

THE GOWN

"I designed my dress with the help of designer Kyann Couture in Belfield, Sydney. She pushed me to add extra beading which I love and made it fit me perfectly (I don't usually fit into dresses off the rack as I have a tiny waist and normal Greek hips). It was an affordable dress, around $3k, but I splurged on Burberry orange metallic snakeskin heels... I argue it was a necessity to match my theme!"
