Racism is not okay⁠ Ageism is not okay⁠ Sizeism is not okay⁠ Ableism is not okay⁠ Homophobia is not okay⁠ ⁠ At Polka Dot Bride, we want to make it crystal clear that there is no room for any hatred, any exclusion, or any excuses. The violence and the pain in the world right now is not new and Australia is not immune to the issues at play, especially issues around racism.⁠ ⁠ Inclusion is one of the things we stand for – and believe in. We actively seek out weddings from people of all racial backgrounds, all colours, all shapes and sizes, all budgets and abilities. We believe diversity and inclusion are our responsibility as a wedding publication and does not just lie in what is submitted to us but in what we actively and consciously choose to publish.⁠ ⁠ We want to assure you that we see you and we actively seek you out to share your stories. We are not just saying words, but are actively seeking out ways to change. We are not perfect but we’re willing to get uncomfortable and stay uncomfortable while we learn and understand our own privileges, and pledge to continue to do better and be better.⁠ ⁠ While you may follow us for the pretty, weddings are not immune from discrimination or any of the “isms” and we’re all too aware of that.⁠ ⁠ It is not okay for discrimination in any way shape or form to exist whether overtly or covertly. And today we are lending our voice and telling you that you have a safe space here because we will never allow any of it on our platform. We welcome you to chat with us about it if you see something we can do better on.⁠ ⁠ Words alone are not enough. It is important to understand for yourself.
