Modern, Monochromatic Indian + Afghani Wedding

Modern, Monochromatic Indian + Afghani Wedding

A vision of a Texas wedding with a modern aesthetic. A monochromatic color palette of pure white. Two different cultural backgrounds, combined with American elements. Are you as intrigued as we are? Introducing Zoey + Aneri! The ladies tell us We are a couple with two different cultural backgrounds, and we felt it was so important to honor our heritage while still maintaining parts of our personalities. We combined Indian, Afghani, and American elements in our attire, ceremony, guest attire. We also love to play games! We had a ping pong table at the reception, and faced off for a Bride vs. Bride match at the end of the night.

The duo decided to marry at the Prospect House, about forty minutes outside of Austin. Planner + designer, BW Theory, helped bring their vision to fruition; the ceremony had a bohemian feel, with lime-washed urns and an antique rug set on a grassy lawn, the cocktail area and lounge space felt more modern, with lots of plant life and live greenery walls. Overall, the result was a glamorous yet relaxed wedding with a Hill Country vibe and a modern minimalist ambience.

Let's see how the day came together in the captures by Matthew Moore Photography!

Dear Darling Calligraphy crafted this gorgeous invitation suite, complete with watercolor brushstrokes.

The two of them had their hands decorated in mehndi the night before the wedding - they secretly hid each other's name in the design. How sweet is that?!

Our dog, Cosmo, wore a custom traditional Afghani men's outfit custom made for him by a local designer in Austin. He was one of the ring bearers!

Hello gorgeous seating chart?! These acrylic sheets paired with the greenery covered wall = ALL TIME FAVE!

Event designer BW Theory shares, We collaborated with various artists to design multiple spaces that were creative and unexpected. We wanted to keep the evening feeling progressive. A surprise in each room as the evening unfolded!

The Prospect House fills up with bright light and has a very modern farmhouse feel. To play up this aspect and make it more elegant, the ceiling featured a drapery installation of sheer white fabric. They even had a ceramicist craft custom candle holders for the dinner tables.

Our cocktail napkins included little facts about us, including that we met during the days of MySpace. We played the Indian traditional ceremony game of stealing the groom's shoes, but in this case, our families stole both of our shoes! Aneri's friends and family competed against Zoey's friends and family to steal the other side's shoes for a cash reward. Zoey's best friends showed up the next morning at brunch with Aneri's shoes demanding cash!

From the team here at GWS, we wish you two all the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us in on your beautiful day!
