Wes Anderson-Inspired Wedding Featuring Dapper Gents and Fancy Fantasy Beards

Calling all Wes Anderson fans! Today's styled shoot is eclectic, quirky, with a hint of Victorian elements + curiosities! Set at The Evergreen PDX, a restored vintage ballroom in the heart of Portland, the team behind the shoot is dishing up some definite spring motifs infused with science elements: bell jar terrariums, "field note" illustrations of plants and mushrooms, and a whole lot of foliage. The ever-amazing couple known as The Gay Beards, were the perfect couple to inspire this wedding shoot, with their message of happiness, creativity, and love. In case you haven't seen the work of this dynamic duo, you should definitely pop over to their Instagram to see all their colorful beard creations!

The designer, Something Borrowed PDX, shares Our initial inspiration for this shoot was Wes Anderson. We love the styling of his films - specifically the vivid color palettes, the symmetry of the scenes, all the rich textures, memorable characters, and playful details. The fresh spring color palette included vivid teal blue, bubble gum pink, mustard and tan, which contrasted nicely with the all the greenery and dark wood furniture. We chose to use flowers sparingly. Instead, Wildflower PDX incorporated lots of interesting potted plants, tropical foliage, and locally foraged moss, mushrooms and ferns.

Let's get this show rolling and check out all the amazing details captured by Hazelwood Photo!

The Re.al Creative made the beautiful and colorful invitation suite, custom vow books and mushroom place cards, which featured quotes from Wes Anderson films.

The stark black and white interiors, super high ceilings and natural light provided the ideal backdrop for our lively scene.

The intimate indoor garden ceremony space featured mismatched vintage chairs, benches, lanterns, a metal Victorian archway, and loads of plants.

The cocktail wizards from Mint + Mirth created a custom apple brandy and aquavit cocktail for the shoot called, "Boy with Apple" - another reference to The Grand Budapest Hotel.

How cute are they?!

Kirstie Wight Makeup nailed it with all the eclectic beard designs!

They also created a "Cabinet of Curiosities" to display the groomsmen gift box curated by With Love from PDX. The box featured locally made goods like a candle, soap, socks, bitters, and of course, beard oil!

The tiny lounge space was designed to double as a photo booth backdrop, and featured framed flora and fauna illustrations, along with chalkboards and handmade needlepoint cat portraits by Rayasthings.

The head table was constructed from of three mismatched smaller wooden tables from Something Borrowed.

The décor consisted of mushrooms statues, bell jar terrariums, vintage novels, an assortment of colorful glassware and linen napkins, vintage cutlery, and modern stoneware dishes.

The Gay Beards wore casual looks that were a mix of vintage and vintage-inspired designer pieces. Their beard bouquets consisted of snap dragons, angel wing begonia leaves, seeded eucalyptus, carnations, straw flowers, ferns, mushrooms, and vintage wooden daisies. They also adorned their beards with vintage buttons and confetti for a few of the shots!

Lux Sucre created an extraordinary sweets bar loaded with mushroom shaped cookies, sparkling cupcakes, and other fantastical desserts.

SO COOL!! Lux Sucre used another film quote on the gorgeous four-tiered cake. They even made tiny replicas of Mendl's Courtesan au Chocolat from The Grand Budapest Hotel.

How awesome are these two?! We're in serious awe over this entire shoot and can't wait to see how it stirs your imagination and all the Wes Anderson-themed events! Feel free to share details about yours below. :)

A huge thank you to the dream team behind this incredibly grand styled shoot!
