Trevor and Lauren's Romantic Solms Delta Wedding - Wedding Friends

via

Nothing says "romance" like rustic floral arrangements and red lips... Trevor and Lauren had a midsummer night's dream of a wedding at the magnificent Solms Delta in Franschoek. A special thanks goes out to Justin Davis Photography for submitting this beautiful wedding.

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
We met in February 2011 at Trevor's church in Port Elizabeth when I had been invited by a friend to the youth group they had there. I was in grade 11, and Trevor was the head-boy at a school on the other side of town. Honestly, I didn't like him at all when we first met, but over the next few weeks, it grew into a friendship, and we could feel there was something more. Trevor eventually asked me out on a date...to go watch Range and do milkshakes along with being dropped off and picked up by my mum since neither of us had a licence. So a totally grown-up first date. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
He had gotten some of our close friends to set up a blanketed picnic under a beautiful big tree in a clearing in the Jan Marais park in Stellenbosch. The tears started when he sat me down and washed my feet - it's a biblical sign of servitude to the other person, and was so significant in that moment and how we both want a marriage where we find joy in serving each other. After that, he stayed on his knees and asked me to marry him. Then our friends came out, we popped champagne, and celebrated! (although we did steal a few hours of quality time before making it public)

The Big Day | What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
It had to be that small moment of quiet as we were sitting back and relaxing at the dinner table. We had the opportunity to see everyone enjoying themselves and making new friends. The day itself was just so incredibly blessed, right down to the perfect timing of all the events and the amazing work done by our vendors (shout out to Ruan and the team at Solms Delta!) We are so privileged to have been able to have such an amazing start to our adventure together.

Describe your wedding day in one sentence
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favour from the LORD | Proverbs 18 v 22

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides?

1) Other people will always want to help and be involved, but remember it is your day so your opinion is the one that stands.

2) Find someone who is well organised and whom you trust to handle the admin of sending invites, recording rsvp's and sending "thank you's" - it's a massive weight off and an easy way to have someone feel involved.

3) Spend good money on this holy trifecta - your lighting, your DJ, and your photographer.

4) Delegate on-the-day admin to anyone but yourselves. You just need to be there to say vows, dance, and disappear to your honeymoon.
