Today we have a sweet summer wedding in California wine country for you, from Snippet & Ink Select vendors Josh Gruetzmacher and Ryder Sloan Events. Featuring illustrated botanical stationery by Momental Designs, gorgeous pink bouquets, and garlands of greenery on bare wooden farm tables, this one is as pretty as it is fun!

The Ceremony

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? We both grew up Catholic and agreed that we wanted the same for our future family. The St. Helena Catholic Church was close to our reception venue, perfect for the size of our wedding, and very pretty!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? Our favorite part of the ceremony was when the doors opened and we saw each other for the first time. All our nerves disappeared instantly.

What was your ceremony music? Processional: Bach's J esu, Joy of Man's Desiring / Bridal Processional: Pachelbel's Canon in D / Recessional: Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary.

Your ceremony in three words. Religious, traditional, short-and-sweet.

Who officiated your ceremony? How did you choose him/her? A local priest officiated the wedding - there was a last minute switch with priests so we didn't have a choice, but this was not a huge concern for us as we had only met the original priest once.

How did you go about planning your ceremony? We chose from a list of available readings to personalize our ceremony. It was important to us that the readings were inclusive and did not limit marriage as between a man and woman only. We also chose a shortened ceremony without a full mass to strike a balance between our Catholic and non-Catholic guests.

What were your vows like? We chose vows from the available options at the church. It was important to us that the language for Michaela's vows was not subservient to Andrew.

Michaela carried this incredible wild, bright bouquet featuring protea, ranuculus, dahlia, garden rose, and trailing vines.

The Reception

How would you describe your reception? Relaxed, fun, playful.

Why did you choose this location for your reception? We chose the venue because we wanted an outdoor reception so our family and friends could really enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area. Given that this was a destination wedding for nearly all our guests, we wanted a venue where people could mingle and really get to know each other.

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Outdoor wedding images, vineyards, tables with garland and lush greenery.

What was your wedding menu? Cheddar biscuits with honey butter / Grass-fed braised beef shoulder with wild mushroom bordelaise / Broccolini with garlic and chili flake / Wood roasted s'mores.

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? In addition to a traditional naked cake, we had a live fire pit for s'mores and potted chocolate mousse and seasonal berry crumbles.

What was your first dance song? You Are The Best Thing, Ray LaMontagne.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? Our favorite part of the wedding was the last dance of the night where most of the guests were out on the dance floor and really having a good time. One of the groomsmen requested an encore of Party Up by DMX, which was horrifying in terms of Michaela's carefully curated song list! All the guests got really into it and we have videos that still make us laugh when we watch them.

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding? Decide together what is really important to both of you (flowers, great music, the menu etc.) and focus your energy and budget there. Everything else you will barely remember!

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? We would definitely keep a tighter eye on the budget, but saying that, we loved every aspect of our wedding so we probably wouldn't change much.
