The island of Lanzarote - one of the Canary islands, a Spanish territory off the coast of West Africa - is an intriguing place with over 300 volcanic cones. The landscape has an otherworldly appearance, with its black, red and yellow soils, juxtaposed by the palm-filled valley. Hope + Lachlan traveled all the way from Australia to elope at this incredible destination. Two of their friends who were living in Mexico joined them to be their witnesses. The ceremony took place by a cliff of black rocks, and then the couple drove around the island with Marcos Sanchez Photography for some stunning portraits.

Hope shares a little about the inspiration for the day: Neither Lachlan or I could fathom spending a huge amount of money on one day. Nor were we ones for tradition. However, we still wanted an experience that was romantic and unique, something we would remember forever. For the two of us, eloping made total sense. It meant we were able to celebrate our love and commitment to each other whilst avoiding any stress or drama that comes with planning a wedding. Not to mention on our trip we got to travel to places we had only ever dreamed of going to!

Following the ceremony, dinner was held at Buenavista Lanzarote, in a 'jameo' - an open cave formed by huge bubbles of air frozen inside the lava. How cool is that?!

Best Day Ever prepared a gorgeous tablescape, which revolved around cactus, candles, wood, and blue napkins + tablecloths. Their friend, Jose, who was also one of the witnesses, cooked fish over a small fire for everyone to share.

Such a stunning combination with the earthy tones!

Do what makes the both of you happy, as this is your time. Leave all the fuss at home and go and start your marriage with an adventure of a lifetime. You won't regret it.
